Quentin's sitting at the counter with one of the brochures and a pen marking that parts that don't make sense. There are lots of questions marks and use of a few specific words; how?, contract?.

He's eating a sandwich with a soda beside him as he works, looking up sometimes to note who comes in. When he goes back home, he's going to have as much information as possible about Milliways in case he comes back again or doesn't.

His disguise is up, leaving him looking like a fifteen year old boy just one who tends to hold his back rather straight.

"Elaine. Queen of the Seelie Court, though of course her son, Ian, is now King instead."

Michael folds her hands, one over the other.

"Which Queens do you know?"

He frowns, sitting up straighter becoming the page more than the teenage boy and his Canadian accent becomes more pronounced,

"The Queen of the Mists who rules San Francisco, then there's the High King Aethlin and Queen Maida of the Westlands. I'm a foster at the court of Shadowed Hills."

Michael stays seated just as she is, a skinny young woman with an androgynous air and too-bright eyes.

"Now those are names I have not heard. Have you a Merlin, in this world of yours?"

"A merlin, no, they're changelings and rare. I'm a Daoine Sidhe and I've never heard of those names you mentioned either. Is this one of those different world issues?"

"Our worlds are indeed different, yes."

Her mouth quirks in crooked smile.

"In the particulars rather in the broad generalities. Or that's my guess, anyway."

"Is that common here or is it usually that things are different in the big ways?"

"Unfortunately for clarity, the answer is often both."

"Oh, huh,"

He could see both, like how different courts or knowes can be, sometimes its in the small details other times its the big stuff.

"You'll get the hang of it in time, most likely."

Or he won't.

That happens sometimes, too.

"I think I will, I'm a fast learner," And while its weird, its not as weird as it could be.

Michael laughs quietly.

"I hear a lot of people say that."

"Okay, but I do. I've had some strange stuff happen and I survived and learned."

Michael quirks one eyebrow.

"How strange are we talking, here?"

"A good friend of mine is a knight and a private investigator, she gets all the worst jobs because she can do them. I've gone with her on some of them like the Fae run computer company with a killer in it. Does your world have the Wild Hunt?"

Blind Michael will probably make more sense as ALH was odd and he rubs at his shoulder where there's still a scar.

Michael inclines her head very slightly.

"If humans tell stories of it, we have it."

It makes every day new and exciting.

"Right, well, its run by Blind Michael or was in mine and he takes children. He took a lot including a mortal girl I was dating at the time. We got them back and Toby killed him,"

There's a lot he's not saying but they're the parts that matter.

"Only children? That hasn't been my experience, but maybe that, too, changes with the times."

"The Luidaeg said in earlier times, there were those who chose to ride with him, but that hasn't happened so he began to take children to become his riders and horses,"

Its awful and he sometimes dreams of Blind Michael's land and Katie's fear.

"Because they're easier prey, or because their imagination makes them more powerful?"

Both are terrible.

But Michael is curious.

(And not blind.)

"Easier to mold," He says quietly.

"But he won't be doing that anymore, will he."

Sometimes that's all the comfort there is.

"No, she killed him with iron and silver, he's gone,"

And then she was pardoned for breaking Oberon's Law but he doesn't need to add that part and that's what Toby does, she protects Faerie.
