Quentin's sitting at the counter with one of the brochures and a pen marking that parts that don't make sense. There are lots of questions marks and use of a few specific words; how?, contract?.

He's eating a sandwich with a soda beside him as he works, looking up sometimes to note who comes in. When he goes back home, he's going to have as much information as possible about Milliways in case he comes back again or doesn't.

His disguise is up, leaving him looking like a fifteen year old boy just one who tends to hold his back rather straight.

Autor walks by today with an empty teacup, intending to fill it at the bar to take a break from library work. When he spots what Quentin is working on, he makes a beeline toward him. "What do you think?"

"The more I learn, the more I expect to meet someone from my world behind it. Its odd."

[herr_bookman]

"Behind Milliways, you mean? Unlikely," Autor says, uncovering his hands from his oversized, gray sweater. "It's a joint effort, evolving over time from many people with many magics from different worlds. What kinds of notes are you taking?"

Just my own. Have you met any of the people behind it?"

At the moment its only a few words here and there.

Autor sees what he's doing, and he's highly amused. "I know a patron raised the mountains, and places the bears there. And another patron built the training grounds. And no doubt a patron made Bar sentient, and bound her here," the boy says. "But they're all long gone, I think."

"And Milliways keeps going on,"

Its oddly like the Summerlands, which is a bit worrying as he sometimes has nightmares about Blind Michael.

"That it does," Autor says, nodding. "Even at the end of the universe, things keep going on. What do you think of the brochure?"

"Its helpful. Toby would probably like if one of these existed for us,"

As she's always getting caught by a point of etiquette or history that she doesn't know and hates it.

[herr_bookman]

"I'm glad you find it so," Autor says, inclining his head. "Is there anything on there you find yourself confused about? And who's Toby?"

"How most of it works other than magic which doesn't say enough. She's my aunt,"

Its a useful lie to explain how he knows Toby.

[herr_bookman]

"The private investigator? Interesting," Autor says, adjusting his glasses. "What more are you looking for with regards to the magic section?"

"No, not the magic exactly, but Milliways,"

Places reflect their rulers but no one rules Milliways but its clearly been shaped.

[herr_bookman]

"Ah, I see," Autor says, furrowing his brow. "What's wrong with the way it works?"

[theunsmiling]

The Archangel Michael drops into a seat next to him, all flyaway dark hair, green eyes, a T-shirt that reads Vetustior Humo, beaten-up jeans, and a pair of Union Jack Doc Martens.

Plus a human seeming.

It's all the rage these days.

"Hi. I don't think I've seen you in here before."

He looks over and smiles as her style makes him think of Toby, "No, I'm still pretty new."

[theunsmiling]

She smiles.

"I'm not. What do you make of the place so far?"

[heatherandsteel]

"Its strange and almost makes sense,"

He closes the brochure that has lots of notes written on it, near the parts about the maze and some of the landscape features there's; knowe, islet?

"Almost?"

Michael's smile goes crooked.

"That puts you leaps ahead of most newcomers, I'd think. What are the parts that don't make sense yet?"

"Who's behind it and what allows it to keep working and exist as it does?"

Some of the oddities feel normal to him since they feel like how a land echoes its ruler, but there's no ruler.

[theunsmiling]

"You know who's behind the workings of your world?"

Really?

[heatherandsteel]

"Parts of it and not personally, but I know the history,"

Every Fae knows of Oberon, Titania and Maeve who created Faerie and the Firstborn who shaped it.

[theunsmiling]

"Mmm."

Michael leans over the bar, resting her chin on one upraised palm.

"And all history is true, is it?"

[heatherandsteel]

"No, of course not but a lot of it is confirmed,"

Fae live long enough that histories tend to be truer, some of them and the Luidaeg corrects problems too.

[theunsmiling]

"Most people just have to take that sort of thing on faith."

Strange but true.

"Some things are like that but not a lot," Blood and power tell.
