The door opens again to Quentin who quickly disguise himself in a magical scent of heather and steel as he curses, "Maeve's tits, your timing is awful."

There are scratches on his cheek and hands, he and Raj were sparring in Goldengreen when Toby and the Duke entered. He had been meaning to get ready to head back to Shadowed Hills, not here. That's why he's grumbling as he heads towards the counter, as long as he's here, he can wash his face.

...He's gonna have to remember that cuss to share with Shepherd later.

"You look like you tried to give an angry cat a bath..." Tyler observes quietly, "Izzat why you're swearing by somebody's bodyparts?"

The thought of giving Raj a bath makes the tips of Quentin's ears go red,

"No, I wasn't trying to give him a bath. I think that would have ended worse."

Tyler just looks Quentin over a moment, while pondering just what this guy could've been doing to end up fighting with a cat.

Ofcourse, he can't really rule out the cat being sapient and capable of math.

"...soo.. how come you have those scratches?"

"Because he's a cat and felt like scratching me,"

In reality, they were sparring but there's no way to explain that to anyone human.

...Yeah, okay. Sometimes Winston feels like getting a bit nippy with Tyler sometimes. "Hope he's a happier cat now and not in too much trouble for it."

"Hi, I'm Tyler, thanks for giving me some new swear words to try out." He's just going to put out his hand to shake. It's not really about the swear words, but he was kinda rude just now to this guy.

"That depends. I don't know how much trouble we're in yet. I'm Quentin and use them well. If I used that one, I'd get in trouble,"

Even though its a really good curse and he offers Tyler his hand with a smile.

We're in yet? Oh there's something a bit fishy about that line, no doubt about it.

"...you wanna learn one that prolly won't get you in trouble?"

"Of course, good curses are useful," And they make Toby and the Luidaeg laugh.

"This one's Finnish, I learned it from Uncle Adrian. Kilinvittu."

Adrian might have some issues with the kid teaching other people this kind of language. Hell, Aunt Romana might break out the soapbar if she ever catches Tyler using it around her.

"What does it mean?" Quentin tries it a few times to makes sure he has it right.

Tyler's just going to peer about to make sure his uncle and aunt are not ANYWHERE nearby.

"Cunt of a virgin goat."

"Oh, that's impressive. Why do you know it?" He seems young for that level of cursing.

...He is young, for that level of cursing.

"Uncle Adrian wanted to give me some words to use on the punching bag when things go wahooney-shaped back home."

"Does that happen often and what's a wahooney?" That's a feeling Quentin understands but this boy's young for it.

"...you know, I don't know what a wahooney is, but I think it's kinda like a pear that got shaped by a hiccuping glass-blower."

He's seen fruits kind of like that in the Summerlands and nods,

"Huh, wouldn't want things in life to look that way."

"Just cause you don't want em, doesn't mean they don't happen."

His entire life has been a series of large wahooneys. Which is why he's giving the spot where his door oughta be something of a stink-eye. Still his life, world and friends back there darnit.

"No, wanting usually has nothing to do with it, its usually more about what needs to be done,"

Quentin follows his gaze to where the door is.

"Ain't that gospel truth."

To borrow from Uncle Adrian, at least. Tyler glances at Quentin just enough to catch him following his gaze. "No door."

"Oh, for how long?"

He doesn't like being trapped, it would be even worse if he was younger.

"I don't know the exact time...but either way the dice falls, it's still too long." Tyler has to make the ewww face, because it really seems even longer without Uncle Ray around. "Bar tries to keep me busy with language lessons."

"I know French if that might help. Otherwise I don't know if there's anything I know you might want to learn."

"Actually...do you practice sword-fighting at all?" Tyler asks, trying to be innocent about it. Between the way Quentin holds himself and the calluses on the hand from the handshake... Well.

"Why do you ask that?" He hopes he didn't give himself away too much.

"Your hands, and the way you sorta hold yourself up." Tyler's just going to hold out his own for inspection. This is the boy who practices everyday for at least an hour.

Sometimes more, depending on how frustrated he is about something. The floating practice drone only does so much, and people are much more unpredictable.

"Cuz...you stand kinda like Uncle Adrian does when he's not building stuff."
