Almost a week ago, a package was left at the bar for Feuilly. Today, he picks it up.
Someone watching from a very safe distance - or who has placed certain technology in the package: we'll never know - might learn that this inauspicious delivery prompts a conversation out in the stables. It goes along the lines of 'ugh, another message from the king? Leave it, we'll deal with it later.' Because it is, after all, a beautiful day and Feuilly and Hotspur had plans to ride out and enjoy it. Which they do, leaving the parcel on the floor.
Some ten minutes later, there is a very loud explosion. Loud enough to be heard in the bar, and across the grounds. It's followed by the sounds of distressed animals, and the smell of smoke.
Hey, Milliways? Your stables are on fire.
[OOC: please see Back Room post here for brief recap details. EP open for however long anyone wants to play. <3]
Animal rescue starts here!
Animals don't like smoke and fire, news at eleven.
Re: Animal rescue starts here!
Yes. It is indeed a two-headed cow. One who is trying to kick her way out of the stall.

Javert is currently trying to wrestle an overwrought colt out of its own stall, and not choke as he does it. Cheval picks this moment to shoot forward and spin in the gangway, kicking out to slam his rear hooves into the stall door where the weird mooing is coming from.
Relax, mutant beast.

He is rather more animated when he emerges from the forest and sees what's going on. Not only does he have two horses in there, they are locked in their stalls to prevent them being stolen.
This is A Bit Not Good, and he would appreciate you getting out of his damn way as he disappears into the smoke.

...Fiachra is not being particularly helpful with all the running about and barking, but Athelstan is trying to be. Getting the animals out seems more of a priority than saving the building, so that's where he goes.

Re: Animal rescue starts here!
Without a second thought, he runs into the billowing smoke.
Re: Animal rescue starts here!
Gyda has a cloth mask over her face and a large stick in hand as she herds the goats outside. The billy goat she's managed to get on a rope lead, using him as well to lead the other goats out safely.
Even with the mask though, she's having a hard time seeing. Panic at the animal's safety not helping of course.

Fires don't like water.
Only two stalls are alight, but you probably don't want it to spread.

Joly hopes no one will need a doctor today, but here he is, with a small clearly labeled crate of first aid supplies, just in case.
And in hopes of making sure no one needs a doctor, part of those supplies are smoke masks, supplied by Bar. He sets them out to one side and puts one on himself before picking up a couple more and heading towards the smoke.
((OOC- have your pup grab a mask if they'd want one, or loot the supply chest if they're the sort to know first aid themselves! Mun and pup will be around if anyone needs a doctor.))

And now he is watching from a distance, giving the impression of wanting to go and help but also aware that he might get in everyone's way. There seems to be a number of people around, and it looks like they've got it in hand.
Heh.

Re: Fires don't like water.
He's currently doing his best with a found fire extinguisher and a bandanna.

Re: Fires don't like water.
Okay. Water.
There is some water, but there needs to be a bucket chain to bring more. There doesn't seem to be one.
"BUCKET CHAIN!!" he shouts.

The old warhorse Barbary is stoic about such things as explosions and fires, but Złota is not stoic about anything at all. So Harry Percy is mostly hanging back with them, while Feuilly runs up to join the fire-fighting.
((Unfortunately, Hotspur-mun has a heavy workload this weekend and I'm looking at an early bedtime for myself tonight--but these two guys are definitely here.))
Re: Fires don't like water.
Given that, X grabs a horse blanket, douses it in water, and goes to try her hand at smothering some of the flames from close at hand.
Maybe that will let her grab the hidden fire extinguisher, as well. All things are possible! Well. Some things.

Fire away! No, really.
When he gets downstairs, he follows the intensifying feeling of wrong-ness out the back door and onto the grounds. He sees, from a distance, the smoke rising up from the stables, and what appears to be a commotion in that general area. Assessing the situation quickly, he runs not towards the stables, but to a halfway point between them and the lake.
Once he reaches his destination, Seimei starts chanting and doing something that looks a bit like dancing, or perhaps like martial arts forms. If you are a certain kind of person from a certain kind of world, it looks like elemental Bending, but in a rather unconventional style. A large silver-and-blue koi fish takes an arcing leap from his shadow into the lake.
The splash from the koi fish becomes a huge column of water, which bends in midair and shoots over Seimei's head towards the stables. As it gets closer, it splits off into branches. Some of the branches hit flames that have caught on the exterior of the stables: others wend their way inside through windows and doors, snaking around walls, support beams, objects, and people. The branches of water unerringly seek out and throw themselves upon flames, as if they were being sprayed out of a very precise hose - but, of course, without the actual hose.
Once the fires are put out, Seimei ends his dance and recalls his koi fish back into his shadow. He runs Into the stables, looking for any incapacitated people or animals who might need assistance - as well as any still-glowing embers that may need stamping out.

After
The animals will have to be rounded up, hopefully none of the tack was destroyed and he'll be bruised and coughing for a while. Someone set the stables on fire and he wasn't able to stop them.

Valjean walks over to him, holding a cup of cold water which he offers quietly.
'Are you all right?'
