First Entrance

...and then, suddenly, through one of the doors bursts a red-haired girl astride a rather enormous horse.

Merida is fortunately experienced enough to stop Angus as they slide to a stop a few inches from the bar.She pushes back a handful of curls and huffs out a relieved sigh, then gives a somewhat sheepish glance over her shoulder before standing up taller in the saddle. Dignity is not precisely an ingrained quality for her, but that's no reason not to be proud of herself.

She did stick the landing after all.

"That's....the end of the universe?" She frowns. "How can this be the end of the universe? I was almost home and then there was...THIS!"

YT gives an eloquent shrug. "It sneaks up on people. At least the first time. Can you still, like, see your Door?" YT points in the direction of the Front Door, or at any rate where the Door usually is (and sometimes isn't, although that hasn't happened to YT yet).

Merida glances over her shoulder. It's still there, luckily. "Yes." She's afraid to ask but she's going to, "so this place likes to play tricks on people and make the door disappear?"

"With some people. But if it hasn't already happened you're probably in the clear. Hey, what should I call you? My name's YT."

No, it's not the name she was born with, but it's the one she insists on with everyone - including her mom.

"Merida," she says, readily and easily. "Were you born here or do you come from another world as well?"

"I don't think anyone was born here." Although who the fuck knows, really. "I'm from Earth. America, California, Los Angeles, in the year 2009."

Now she's highly curious as to whether or not there has been. "Earth as well - Scotland. And it's the year 1240 where I come from."

"Whoa. That's way back for me," YT says. Although by her standards anything before 1970 is ancient history. "There's people from all different times and places here. Most of them are human. Some of them aren't. You can't always tell by looking. Is it okay if I pet Angus?"

YT likes animals.

"I could tell," Merida admits ruefully. Her eyes widen at the implications. "So my mom can come here?" Gulp. "And of course, but be careful - he's the sensitive type."

Angus snorts but lowers his head for the anticipated petting.

YT lets Angus smell her first, then pets him. "My mom hasn't found out about this place, thank God."

Don't get YT wrong, she likes her mom, but it's better for her not to know certain things that YT gets up to, okay?

"Odds are pretty good that your mom won't find her way here either."

Merida feels a stroke of relief at that. "Good," she sighs.

"I can show you around if you want," YT says. "There's, like, a stable out back where Angus can stay. Or he can just hang out on the grounds, whatever floats your boat."

Inside the bar is not a great space for a horse, especially one as big as Angus.

"I would love that," she says. "This fella's gonna need oats and water soon."

She doesn't want him scuffing the floors, in any event.

"Okay. I think you're gonna have to hop down to go through the back door. It's gonna be hard to get him through as it is..."

Although those Cybertronians manage it, and they're pretty big.

"That...sounds like a brilliant idea," she admits, and does so, keeping a firm hold on the reigns. Then, sotto aside as they lead Angus toward the back door, "what if he gets stuck? Do you have any lard to grease his way?" Angus snorts and stamps his feet, as if fully aware of his mistress' judgement upon his appearance.
