First Entrance

...and then, suddenly, through one of the doors bursts a red-haired girl astride a rather enormous horse.

Merida is fortunately experienced enough to stop Angus as they slide to a stop a few inches from the bar.She pushes back a handful of curls and huffs out a relieved sigh, then gives a somewhat sheepish glance over her shoulder before standing up taller in the saddle. Dignity is not precisely an ingrained quality for her, but that's no reason not to be proud of herself.

She did stick the landing after all.

"You really want to know? It's not fun." Clearly this is a young woman who isn't easily dissuaded from anything.

She's tough as iron, and she's barely sixteen. Fear for the universe when she turns twenty.

"Sure! Might help brace me."

[says_the_booyah]

"She swapped my brain with...someone else." He cannot explain what an android is. "And she made me into sort of bear. Which happened to me once at home, so I didn't like it happening again."

Merida blinks at the very idea for a moment. "How did she do that?! Did it hurt?!"

[says_the_booyah]

"Magic, but also some really weird tech. Never, ever mix magic and tech." He has no evidence to support this idea. But he's never going to try it.

[boghadair]

She shivers. "I don't know what 'tech' is, but it doesn't sound pretty."

[says_the_booyah]

"Technology. Science. What makes me possible." He pauses. "But you don't even have the steam engine yet, do you?"

[boghadair]

Not having much experience with technology (and being from a pre-technology period), Merida nods. "We have horses. And an iron forge!"

She guesses this is unimpressive compared to what he's experienced.
