The circle of chairs is out in the main bar. In the middle are a selection of fruit pies, with a choice of ice cream, or cream, or custard, or none of the above.

Behind the pies are a large sign.

"Do you know what this fruit is?" He ask, gesturing to the cherry pie.

"Those are called cherries", Cadfael tells him. "Well known in my homeland, and many other places."

"Cherries. They're very nice. I could do a lot with those." He muses, flinching as Kyber nips on Bodhi's finger. "Hey! Stars, Kyber! Gentle."

Cadfael reaches out, with a glance for permission, to run a finger over Kyber's head.

"Did he break the skin?"

Bodhi nods, Kyber purring loudly at the attention. "No, his teeth are growing in, that's all. I need to find him safer things to chew on."

"No doubt Mistress Bar will have suggestions", he offers. "Though you may find your fingers still chewed, from time to time."

"We have an older cat, Myrrh, who lives with us too. She tends to keep him in line." He smiles fondly. "We're very lucky they choose to stay with us."

"I doubt it is entirely down to luck", Cadfael says amiably. "You must be doing something right."

"Myrrh saved me. When things got- when I gave up hope. She was the one who found help." He admits, his voice soft and a little shaky.

"Ah." His eyes are understanding, and not in the least condemning. "A good thing she could get out of your room, then."

"The Bar gave her a little door of her own. And now she and Kyber have ladders and ramps up to our balcony as well. I don't like Kyber to wander on his own but I don't feel right trapping him either."

"Perhaps if he goes with Myrrh, she can lead him out of danger."

"I'm sure she does her best. But he's a handful." Bodhi smiles. "Their company really does helps."

"He will be a full adult of his kind in a year or two", Cadfael tells him. "And then perhaps less of a handful, but no less helpful."

Bodhi smiles fondly. "That'll be interesting to see."

He glances around. "I'm sorry. Am I keeping you for doing- something?"

"Not at all. The purpose of this event is to talk, and it need not be terribly serious talk."

"I'm okay for serious talk. At the moment. Galen- the person I was waiting for is here now. We're... making a life."

"You are both - " He selects his words. " - here on the same basis?"

"We're both dead, if that's what you mean? Yes. But... I knew- He died before I did."

"Ah." He nods. "Did he know you had heard the news?"

"I doubt it. He must have thought I was dead too. He had no way to know I wasn't on Jedha when it-" There's a catch it his throat. "When it was destroyed."

That is almost beyond his understanding.

"...on Jedha. Not in?"

"The world I'm- I was from. It was destroyed." Something he's almost come to terms with.

"But you were able to leave that world, in other ways than by coming here?"

He nods. "I was rescued." Kind of. "We made it off world just in time."
