It came to Bonnie's attention recently, while she was helping supply pie for Life Support, that some folks around here are short of food.

So, today, she has set up a table on one side of the bar, with another large baking of pies, plus some of her spare apples, and some jars of jams and pickles. She carefully covers the pies to stop any errant flies buzzing over them.

She sets up a sign behind the table.

'HARVEST FESTIVAL

Are you a keen gardener who would like to trade one food for another?

Do you have a lot of spare food that will otherwise go to waste?

Are you someone who just needs no excuse to bake?

TAKE WHAT YOU NEED

Trade crops and avoid waste. If you are hungry, if you are short of food, please, help yourself. No eligibility questions asked. Any spare food at the end will be given to the bar to be distributed later to those who are hungry.

Suggested items: Fruit and veg, baked goods, dried goods, canned goods
Please no: Out of date food, foods that need to be kept hot or cold, items inedible to humans (or at very least please label as such), magic prank food, blood products or products made from humans, medicines, junk.'

There are takeaway boxes and bowls and spoons provided.

He nods, unashamed and open. "We couldn't be open about it. It wasn't done in the Empire."

"It's not done in the British Empire, either," Dorian says, shaking his head sadly.

Bodhi cocks his head, studying Dorian's face. "There's someone you want to be with. But can't?"

"Not somebody specific," Dorian says. "But I do like all genders, and could go to jail for making love with some of them."

"I'm sorry. That must be hard." Bodhi touches Dorian's hand softly.

"Yes, it is," Dorian says, taking Bodhi's hand and squeezing it briefly before letting go.

Bodhi frowns, trying to work out what's wrong.

He's distracted by Kyber who has suddenly decided it's time for food, yowling pointedly. "Yes, alright little one."

"What does he want?" Dorian asks, wondering whether people from space actually speak cat.

"Dinner." Bodhi answers with an affectionate smile. "Greedy little thing." Myrrh mews softly, clearly agreeing with that idea. "I'll be back in a moment."

He tucks the wriggling Kyber in the crook of his arm, Myrrh following. Bodhi's unconsciously relaxed and comfortable, opening containers of home cooked cat food and laughing as Kyber perches on his shoulder, trying to get to it faster.

"Cats are so bad at the concept of delayed gratification," Dorian chuckles from his place on the sofa where he sprawls, observing the domestic scene.

"It's not in their nature." Bodhi answers, looking back over his shoulder with a smile. "That and Kyber gets destructive when he doesn't get fed when he feels he should. He has a nasty habit of pulling up my mint plants."

"In revenge?" Dorian says. "That is one very specific kitten. Cat logic is so baffling at times."

"More like attention seeking destruction. I knows he'll have my attention if I hear pots being knocked over."

"Cat logic is still baffling," Dorian chuckles.

"That's part of what makes them such good company. They're always surprising." Bodhi comes back to the couch, a bowl in his hand. "Dried meiloorun fruit. I thought you might like to try some."

Dorian takes a bit, tasting it with interest. New sensations work as a distraction for him, as much as for any cat.

"So is this what you do?" Bodhi asks with a soft smile. "Find new things to explore here? The way you talk about your home, you sound very bored."

"There is so much -- and yet, never enough," Dorian says. "At home. Here, the wonder lives, wherever I turn my head."

Beat.

"I'm a bit older than I look, to be honest. I have seen a lot. But never anything like here."

"That's part of why I left Jedha. To see... other places." Not the main reason but it's an easier one to justify.

"What was the best place you ever saw, out there in space?" Dorian asks. "What was it like?"

Bodhi goes quiet and thinks, accepting Myrrh into his lap as she comes back over to join them. "The first time I saw Scarif from the air, I think. I'd never seen so much water. It's so blue, a chain of islands and atolls. And between them, so much blue."

He ducks his head. "I died there. Years later."

"You died in the most beautiful place you have ever seen?" Dorian says. "That is poignant. And I am sorry to hear you are dead. Your lover, Galen, is he...?"

"Under very... very different circumstances." He nods at that. "He is. He... he was killed. A week before I was. Stars, it seemed longer than that."

"You died in a war?" Dorian guesses. "Fought on those azure beaches?"

He nods. "Galen was an engineer on a weapon. A terrible weapon. He was tricked into it at first but when he worked out what his research was being used for he ran. But they tracked him down, killed his wife and sent his daughter into hiding."

"When I met him, he was trapped, unable to escape but fighting his own way. He built a trap inside their machine. In secret." He shrugs. "I carried a message to the rebels. To tell them, the trap was there."

"But I was too late. The Rebels believed they could stop the weapon by killing him." He lowers his eyes in shame. "I led them right to him."
