In the Scout Hut on All Hallows Eve is a not-too-spooky gathering.

Perhaps you're a little bit too easily scared. Perhaps you celebrate the night in a different way.*

Or perhaps you just need more sweeties in your life!

If you are a small person, a small person at heart, or someone not scary who enjoys activities aimed at the under tens, come and join the party!

There are candies and toffee apples, and fruit if you're so inclined, plus plenty of drinks.

And pie, lots of pie!

Autor has inhaled a slice of pumpkin pie, and now he's helping to serve food to the little ones.

Coral queues up patiently for pie with Gil.

"You're very welcome, Coral," Autor says, and sweeps a hand across the food table. "What kind of pie would you like?"

"Blackberry please, and apple for Gil." Coral says, knowing that Gil cannot be trusted with blackberry anything.

Autor dishes up the two pies, and offers them the respective plates. "It's been a long time since I've seen you, Coral. You and Gil are much bigger than the last time."

At some point when he's not balancing food on plates, Autor is impacted by a young Rae from approximately three o'clock, hugging him about the ribs. "Autor!"

She is so glad to see him! And at a party, too! And they can understand each other without worrying about translation failures!

Autor stiffens, his eyes wide. He almost takes a swing at her, but then she says his name and he realizes who she is. "Rae," he says, breathless. His heart has yet to come down from his throat. "Hello. How are you?"

She let's him go the moment she notices him stiffen, aware that's what she should do, even if she doesn't know the cause. "I'm okay - you okay?"

He looks like he's seen a ghost, and this isn't supposed to be a spooky party.

Spider Game

As suggested by Rae, there is a game where you can throw pom pom spiders at webs.

There are chocolate spiders if you succeed!

Coral is having a go at this, while keeping an eye on Gil because Dad just popped back to the bar to get something from the office.

Sunshine helped hang up the sticky tape-webs for varying levels of challenge. Some are large, easy targets made of colorful hula hoops and tape, while some are smaller - made from embroidery hoops - and are hung higher up for the kids who want a little bit of a challenge. She's made little jack-o-lantern squeeze toys from balloons and sand for those who might want something other than candy.

Decorate a pumpkin

No knives here, but there's googly eyes, pipe cleaners, and washable felt tip pens.

Bonnie has Billie on her knee, who is making a nice big mess with the felt tip pens on her pumpkin.

"We carved one, with knives!" Egil declares, proudly, when he comes in with Teja and some cats in tow. "Pyrrha can make is so when the candle is lit inside, there is a picture."

Gil is sticking hundreds of eyes onto his pumpkin.

Bobbing for Marshmallows

Some of these are dangled from the ceiling a bit lower, for the smaller people, the rest are a little higher.

She thought that because this marshmallow was hanging a little higher, it'd be easier to aim at.

Now she's having to jump a bit to get at her chosen marshmallow, sending it swinging each time she tries.

Because there's been more than enough candy for one evening, breaking this will result in a shower of tiny teddy werebears! Still yet to break, though...
