In the Scout Hut on All Hallows Eve is a not-too-spooky gathering.

Perhaps you're a little bit too easily scared. Perhaps you celebrate the night in a different way.*

Or perhaps you just need more sweeties in your life!

If you are a small person, a small person at heart, or someone not scary who enjoys activities aimed at the under tens, come and join the party!

(*Perhaps you have a little person you need to keep out the way for the killer doll invasion)

There is a new notice on the notice board.

'Attn Milliscouts,

I hope you're all keeping well in this flu season.

I have a new challenge for you for Easter this year.

At the bar you can collect a disposable camera and a straw hat. Your challenge is to persuade as many folks as possible to pose for a photograph wearing the straw hat. You will get one point for each different person you successfully photograph, and the person with the most points by the end of Easter Monday will receive a very large Easter egg (chocolate unless you are allergic).

All participants will receive a smaller egg, and if you are a scout, a special Portrait Photography Challenge badge.

Game Guidelines

1. You must not take anyone's photograph without their permission.

2. You may decorate the straw hat if you wish but it must still look like a straw hat. (Don't cut them, they'll fall apart).

3. You may take pictures of each other but there is only one prize.

4. You do not have to be an official member of the Milliscouts to take part, but you will have to join officially (by speaking to a leader) if you want the badge.

5. You may use a different camera if you have one. Otherwise you can get your disposable camera photos from the bar.

6. Have fun!

Bonnie'

Bonnie herself is around at the bar, if anyone has questions.

It's been too long, so this afternoon Bonnie has brought a whole bunch of junk to the scout hut today. Got to make the most of the snow while it lasts.

She posts a sign on the back door.

'ATTN MILLISCOUTS

Remember our very first get-together?
Well, I've got a pile of junk, and a bunch of sleds from last time that could use a little upgrade.

There are a fresh set of posters up around the bar:

Bonnie has been busy with the show preparation, but today she's got a whole bunch of art supplies out in the Scout Hut.

Bonnie still has all the stuff needed to build bicycles, but it's been stacked neatly into boxes. She can get it out if anyone still wants to build one.

For today though, she's got a bunch of blank t-shirts in various sizes, and blank bags, along with fabric paints and fabric sharpies, scraps of fabric and general needlework things like safety pins. There's even some tiny t-shirts for teddies (and some tiny teddies to go with them if necessary).

She's set up in the Scout Hut, but there are some signs directing people in the bar.

There are... hundreds of children in here when Guppy arrives.

Guppy isn't quite sure what's going on in here, but some of the kids look worried, some are running wild, and some of them look vaguely familiar.

Then he finds the sign. Of course.

He gets a few bits and bobs ready and sets up a table in one corner, before putting up a sign.

Hi kids!

For those of you who are 'new' here, there's no need to be alarmed. Bar can provide you with food and drink and whatever else you need.

If you need more help, come and ask me. I help run a group called Milliscouts here.

On the table he sets a selection of cakes, and one of the waitrats appears suddenly with a little box of badges. Guppy picks one out and has a look.

"Heh, good idea. That'll confuse a few people when they turn back."

This morning, Teja found a message from Bonnie at the bar, announcing that the Easter Egg Hunt had been cancelled, and could he please see about a substitute as she was taking herself to bed, baby bump and all.

After researching the purpose of an Easter Egg Hunt in the library, Teja is now out and about in the grounds, accompanied by Egil and trailed, occasionally, by all four forge cats, hiding sturdy and colourful plastic eggs that would even be safe as a chew toy for dogs. They are emblazoned with the words "Exchange For Cholocate At Bar".

Egil is especially proud when he thinks of a good hiding place.

Later, Bonnie's note is amended again:

Instead of chocolate, you may now
hunt for substitutes, which you may exchange.
All the badges still apply!

Okay, so it's a little early, but Bonnie had energy today and figures nobody will mind.

She's been around the bar and the grounds today with a basket of assorted chocolate shapes - everything from chocolate eggs and bunnies to little chocolate octopuses and fish and sharks, because not everyone does Easter after all.

After hiding them in various places where they aren't going to get wet or cause a hazard or nuisance, she puts a sign up on the board.

'Attn MilliScouts,

1. I have set up a Spring Chocolate Hunt around the bar and its grounds.
There is no specific badge for this* but go nuts!
(Chocolate does not contain nuts)

Your chocolate is now at the bar because apparently it's dangerous to dogs, I have rounded them all up again. Please help yourselves so my kids don't rot their teeth.

2. March is a great time to start gardening badges, particularly if you are growing vegetables. Also a good time to do Season Survival: Spring.

3. If anyone would like to learn how to build their own bicycle (which you can then keep) please sign up below!

Bonnie

*That said, you could combine finding chocolate with various parts of Cache-Hunting, Runner, Mischievous Runner, Season Survival: Spring, Red or Green Buttons of Awesomeness.'

She sits down at the bar with a hot chocolate, and a leftover chocolate octopus, which she dunks in the drink and then eats.

Some time later, the treasure hunt is reinstated with plastic eggs, and below the notice is a second which reads:

'Instead of chocolate, you may now
hunt for substitutes, which you may exchange.
All the badges still apply!'

[ooc: ETA - following post from Chuck all the chocolates have been replaced by plastic eggs. Any new threads please assume the plastic eggs are now in operation. If any issues please pm me.]

Fry is all set to go on a treasure hunt.

He's all ready with his Scout hoodie on, and his detectiving kit - a magnifying glass, a water bottle, a camera, and a rough map of the bar and its surroundings. And, importantly, a small box of his own treasures to swap for any treasures he finds inside the box.

He's content to find treasure and work for the badge on his own, but it's much easier with a friend.

Outside there is a fresh fall of snow, and it's time for the Scouts to compete in a snow battle. They've had just under two weeks to design and prepare a non-electric machine to throw snow as far as possible.

Bonnie has drawn a line in the snow for them to line their machines up to, and erected the two Patrol's banners for them to compete under.

"All right, let the game begin." she says, getting her trundle wheel ready.

(Afterwards there will be plenty of time to chuck snow at each other too, and hot chocolate)

[oom: Guppy and Fran realise there's more going on with Coral, and more to Fry's teacher than meets the eye.]

So apparently there's a 'snow machine' competition going on, and being an associated tiny person with the Scouts, Guppy's younger daughter has insisted that Daddy should help her build one.

He had to adapt her design a little, not least because most of it was made up of explosion marks, but he and the three-year-old Brooke are currently outside in the snow test driving their new catapult, which appears to be made of a broom handle tied to a colander, on a frame, and some strong elastic of some sort.

"Easy does it." Guppy is saying, as Brooke loads some snow into the colander. "Now you stand behind the safety line."

Brooke pouts slightly but goes to stand the safety line. And is rewarded when her father pulls back the catapult as far as it will go, only for the elastic to snap and the end of the broom handle smack Daddy in the face and knock him backwards into a pile of snow.

"Again, again!"

Bonnie is looking her usual busy self when she comes into the bar and pins a notice up on the board.

Attn Scouts,

You have voted to do the snow battle machine challenge as one of your winter activities. As of now you have until 10th December to design and build your machines.

You may work in groups of any size and build as many machines as you want, but at the end of the two weeks there will be a competition between patrols to see who can hurl snow the furthest. Once we've got a winner, we'll get you hurling snow at each other.

You will find a selection of pieces of hand tools, wood, springs, wire, nuts and bolts and so on, and various other junk items in the Scout Hut to use. You may use other simple things of your own provision e.g. string if you wish, but in general you should use materials fairly.

You machine must not use a motor or any form of electricity. You may not use power tools without a qualified adult. You may ask any adult for advice but the design and construction should be your own. Anyone behaving dangerously, launching anything other than snow, or doing anything underhand will be out of the contest.

Your entries will be judged on Thursday 10th December.

Have fun!
Bonnie

With that, she sits nearby, and waits for any questions.

A large table near the center of the bar room is covered with a great variety of crafting materials - glitter, beads, swatches of fabric, colorful paints, bright fabric paints, construction paper, glue sticks, and of course, two wooden boxes with hinged lids.

Autor is there, along with young Rae Seddon, putting up a sign to invite the Scouts to decorate their patrol boxes and banners:

Scouts Patrol Box and Banner Decorating! Come decorate your patrol's box and banner and suggest useful things to keep in the box.

Autor and Rae are more than willing to help. They're putting together lists of people's suggestions for things to keep in their patrol's box and drawing up ideas for what to paint on the banners. All in all, it seems to be a productive day.

'Attn Scouts:

1. It's getting to holiday sort of time. Please express a preference as to what you want to do next month (all activities will be non-denominational). You can vote for more than one.

A: Party of some sort.
B: Some sort of holiday show or pantomime
C: Sledge race rematch!
D: Build snow battle machines
E: Winter crafts/present making e.g. candles, jam
F: I hate winter, let's go to the warm beach and pretend it's summer.

When Gyda stepped outside that morning to feed the goats, it seemed just an average day in Milliways. There was nothing going on to take her attention away from her chores, certainly nothing to really notify her attention.

This changed soon as her chores were done and she'd gone inside Bar for something to eat. Instead of the modern jeans and homespun tunic, her clothing was replaced with a silver and blue dress, with a red cape and leggings, something was on her head and in her hands..a vaguely familiar hammer. She studied the hammer a moment before realizing why this all looked familiar, a wide smile on her face.

"Lady Bar, is this for the Halloween festival?" A note appearing with 'Yes, Happy Halloween :) appeared before her, along with a plate of what turned out to be pumpkin pancakes with bacon and a drinking horn of apple cider. For once, Gyda had to force herself to eat. She'd read of children dressing up, but she never thought Bar would let her in a costume as well-and of Thor too! She wanted to finish eating soon as possible to see if there were other ways to celebrate the festival.

An hour later, with help from Bar, Gyda..still dressed as Thor, is at the scout hut. Lady Bar was nice enough to send her pictures and halloween decorations and she's making good use of them to decorate the hut for Halloween.

Of course, someone may want to keep her from going overboard on decorating, or just go 'heck with it' and help out.

ooc: Catch Gyda either eating breakfast or at the scout hut with all manner of halloween decorations.
