Cassian wasn't planning on being back in Milliways so soon after the party, its not even been a week on his side of the door. Though with his ribs still hurting and how uncomfortable his recon is being, he's glad of a change of scenery.
He's on one of the couches with a good view of the room, using a pillow to stay in a not too painful position as he works on his datapad. The painkillers from Bar are helping a little, so he's sipping a caf and at times glancing up at Tentacles of Our Waves on the TV. All the squids are gathering for a grand occasion, Cassian hasn't been able to figure out what it is yet.
Later in the day, when he goes up to get something to eat, Cassian leaves a note for Barry.
Barry,
I'm sorry for pressing you on New Year's Eve. My training to push for information came to the surface. You and Cisco are welcome to work on the X-wing and I'll keep out of your way.

He watches Cassian pull in that breath, noting the stuttering action and wince, and shaking his head.
"I seriously think you should get that checked out. That seems worse than a bruising, and if it's anything more than a hairline you could run into complications. At the very least you'll want to pull in one of those deep breaths every once in awhile to keep your lungs clear and prevent pneumonia."

Medics and doctors always ask questions, Barry knows what happened and if he's concerned, checking it out will reassure him.

There's a brief flash of heat, but Barry lets it go, focusing instead on Cassian's injury.
On the question, Barry hesitates. "I usually only work on dead people."
But, if that's what it takes to get Cassian checked out...
"But yeah, I guess I could do that."

This place they're at is too fragile to get into that discussion,
"If it looks bad, we can get one of the doctors in."

Standing up, Barry hefts his case up again, watching Cassian.
"Sure. Need a hand up?"
no subject
He takes his time and gets up with only one bad moment.

"Just how big was the Locan guy?"
no subject
Once he's standing, he can move a touch easier.

"I don't suppose there's any chance you could start wearing some kind of body armor, is there?"
no subject
He walks without needing to lean just with a few winces.

"You might try and get away a little faster next time," he adds, teasing just a little, trying to figure out where they're at now, as friends.
no subject
"I will but I'm not as fast as you."

When they enter the Infirmary, Cassian looks for anything that looks like a familiar scanner.

"I hope nobody gets mad at us for poking around the stuff in here," he says.
no subject
"They won't be. I was in here another time when I was hurt and left a note."
It wasn't that simple but it worked out better than Cassian had hoped.

Tilting his head at Cassian, he asks, "What's that?"

"Yyyeah, I don't know how to use that, either." Although he might be privately geeking out just a bit. Maybe if he comes back sometime Guppy will give him an infirmary run through.
"Check it, let's get a chest X-ray, I can do that." He's fairly confident he can, at least.
He nods at a machine against the wall that he hopes is what it looks like.

His escape kit is shielded against them and other kinds of scanners.

He looks over the equipment and nods to himself, pretty sure he should be able to manage working it.
"You're going to need to undress from the waste up. If you've got a t-shirt you can leave that on, otherwise I can find you a gown."
no subject
Cassian pulls over a chair and takes off his jacket, then his shirt, he an undershirt on and unholsters his blaster in case it interferes with anything.

The machine is a digital X-ray, which is great because Barry wouldn't be so comfortable processing film.
He looks around and locates a lead apron, bringing it over to Cassian.
"Here, put that around your waist."
