The front door opens a tiny crack, like it wasn't properly latched and has come ajar. A moment later a tiny nose pokes through, followed soon by a fuzzy head.
A cat, black and white with wide yellow eyes, peeks into Milliways, meowing to announce this new discovery, then slipping through the crack into the bar.
"No, no, no, no-- "
The door swings wide, pushed open by a man in a black mask, a box of kitty kibble in his hand.
He's too late, the cat makes a break for freedom and adventure, and Matt is left standing in the doorway trying to track the feline as it threads its way through the chaos of the bar.
"Damn it."
There is absolutely no way Claire is ever going to let him live this down.

For a moment, just a brief fleeting moment, Matt considers the possibility of just swapping cats.
Tempting as the thought is, he lets it go.
Reaching to pet the new cat, Matt gives a nod towards the couch.
"You want to tell your friend to come out of there?"

When the cat doesn't seem to want to come back out and join the other, Matt sighs.
"You're really going to make me get out out of under there, aren't you?"

Moving closer to the couch, Matt has to get on his knees so that he can try and reach underneath the chair.
"C'mere-- cat," he calls, realizing halfway through that he doesn't actually know the cat's name.

When the man reaches under the chair the cat stays out of range, pawing at the searching fingers while staying far enough away to avoid being grabbed.
This is fun! One, two, three fingers are bipped with a paw. When the cat tries to score on the fourth, though, things go awry.
"MROW!"
Matt manages to time it just right, and now he has a firm grip on the cat's arm, careful not to hold too tight or pull too hard even as he starts trying to drag the cat out.

There is wrestling, and kicking, and even some biting.
Matt's gloves offer some protection, but even as he hangs on gamely there's still a grimace on his face as he draws out the cat. Once he has it out from underneath the couch Matt grabs the cat by the scruff with his other hand.
Caught, the cat gives a 'meow' to the black cat.
"You really are a pain in the ass," he informs the animal, shaking out his 'mauled' hand.

"Mrrrr?"

"You have got to be kidding me."
He is fairly sure he has the right cat, but another coming out from beneath the couch certainly casts doubt on everything.
"Shithead?" he questions the cat he's holding onto.
The cat only replies with another plaintive meow.

Keeping a hold on the cat he's already captured, Matt kneels to reach down and stroke the cat rubbing up against him, checking to see if it has a collar on.

"Thanks for making this a headache for me. I'm taking this one," He informs the litter of cats.
If Matt was even a small fan of cats before, he definitely isn't now.
