"You know what, let's have a party."

Dinah threw her platinum card (thanks, Oracle) on the Bar and as a result there is free flowing champagne for everyone whose culture, age and religion permits champagne - and top quality soft alternatives for the rest. There are bar snacks doing the rounds around the tables, and delicate winter flower arrangements on each surface.

And most importantly, on the TV screen is a lot of dancing, a giant countdown, and a big ball ready to drop.

...and when the ball drops, something happens.

All welcome - yes, that means all. Whether they're retired, deleted, AU, original or already being played by someone else, bring 'em along.

Usual all-skate rules apply:
1. Everyone's stressed out of their mind right now, so have fun!
2. Communication is key.
3. Gratuitous behaviour (either of a violent or sexual nature) will not be tolerated in the bar proper. Take that to an OOM, and then Content Warning the hell out of it before you link it.
4. Much like Vegas, what happens in All Skates, stays in All Skates (in most cases)

"Erm, sorry," he says, ogling the fork. "What is that?"

"A fork," she replies, "It's a common eating utensil in my where and when - some of my patrons don't like using their fingers to tear off pieces, even if it is the best way to eat a cinnamon roll."

She doesn't quite know how well cinnamon rolls would work with chopsticks, for one.

"Oh good, I ca eat it with my fingers," he says, picking up the cinnamon roll and tearing off a piece to stuff into his mouth.

"This is delightful! I'm Tang Fan, by the way," he says around the mouthful he is eating.

The baker looks pleased - the first bite of a new customer is the best part. "It is good to meet you, Tang Fan. I'm Rae Seddon, also called Sunshine."

"Hmmm-mmm," Tang Fan says in greeting, looking absolutely beatific as he chews that first bite.

Sunshine chuckles. Oh she likes this guy. He's got an expressive face and doesn't hide his enjoyment. She doesn't want to interrupt, though, and moves to put water on for tea.

"It's good to meet you! This is great!" he exclaims once he's swallowed that first bite.

"I'm glad you approve - they're my best-sellers and one of my personal favorites, and the best way to fortify oneself against a chilly morning," the baker smiles, pleased.

"Can you tell me how to make them so I can write down the recipe and bring it to Sui Zhou and Dong-er to make?" Tang Fan asks, smiling sweetly at her.

Sunshine stares for a moment, thinking of all the differences between just Knowing how to do something and trying to explain it to someone else.

...who'll then write it down in hopes of explaining it to someone else.

"I'll do my best," she promises, mentally adding that she's likely going to be sending him home with the ingredients that'd be difficult to procure.

"I'm really bad at making food," Tang Fan admits, "I'm just good at eating it and commenting about it. But they are both brilliant!"

"I'm sure they're glad to have you, then, too," Sunshine grins at him. "There's no one a cook or baker values more than a good eater, who knows how to enjoy delicious food."

"Yes, exactly!" Tang Fan says. "That's what I tell them when they grumble. But seriously, Sui Zhou is one of those people who have a go-to activity when they're upset, and that happens to be cooking. Feeding us keeps him sane, and us happy."

In modern times, Sui Zhou's 'upsets' would be called PTSD, and his coping mechanism would be 'stress baking'.
