Dinah threw her platinum card (thanks, Oracle) on the Bar and as a result there is free flowing champagne for everyone whose culture, age and religion permits champagne - and top quality soft alternatives for the rest. There are bar snacks doing the rounds around the tables, and delicate winter flower arrangements on each surface.

And most importantly, on the TV screen is a lot of dancing, a giant countdown, and a big ball ready to drop.

...and when the ball drops, something happens.

Turning towards the voice, Michael startles just a little, and then he smiles and says, "Oh! I would, thank you. Not something that I've tried before."

A skeletal hand appears from the sleeve of the robe and picks up the bowl in order to proffer them to the demon.

Michael reaches out to pluck up one of the papadum and gives a little salute with it towards the skeleton.

"Thank you," he says. "I think I will have some curry. I'm finding ways to spend my time and trying new things seems to be a good one."

He makes the curry request to Bar and is happy when he receives a bowl.

"It's not just foods, though," he goes on to say conversationally. "I've also decided that I'm going to try to learn the guitar, maybe write a song or two."

Are you going to try that - what's it called? Music With Rocks In?

"Music with rocks?"

Michael puzzles that one for a moment then brightens with understanding.

"Oh, rock and roll? Yes, a little of that, maybe some pop rock, a little folk rock if I'm feeling quaint. What about you, what kind of music did you try out?"

I don't know why, stars don't twinkle.

"Well you have to look at it from a human's perspective," Michael says, raising his hand to gesture at the roof to indicate the stars that would be overhead.

"The atmosphere, pollution, their limited senses that can only see in three dimensions. They miss a lot, and sort of make stuff up to compensate for it."

"Oh really? Well that's interesting," Michael says, leaning into his palm with a finger up against his cheek.

"Which one are you?"

"Oh it is you, I wasn't sure with the uh, robes," Michael says, making a finger waggly gesture at Death's outfit. "Very festive."

"Wonderful!" Michael applauds, "They really do look good on you. I'm not the fashion expert that my friend Tahani is but, I do think she would say, 'You look wonderful, darling!'"

Michael puts on a bit of a British accent on the last and smiles.

"To answer your question though, if you're really asking, I have been incredibly good," Michael goes on. "In fact, my friends and I just got finished saving all of humanity from eternal damnation. Not to brag or anything."

Having inclined his head in thats for the compliment, Death considers the meaning of saving all of humanity from etenral damnation.
