Dinah threw her platinum card (thanks, Oracle) on the Bar and as a result there is free flowing champagne for everyone whose culture, age and religion permits champagne - and top quality soft alternatives for the rest. There are bar snacks doing the rounds around the tables, and delicate winter flower arrangements on each surface.

And most importantly, on the TV screen is a lot of dancing, a giant countdown, and a big ball ready to drop.

...and when the ball drops, something happens.

All welcome - yes, that means all. Whether they're retired, deleted, AU, original or already being played by someone else, bring 'em along.

Usual all-skate rules apply:
1. Everyone's stressed out of their mind right now, so have fun!
2. Communication is key.
3. Gratuitous behaviour (either of a violent or sexual nature) will not be tolerated in the bar proper. Take that to an OOM, and then Content Warning the hell out of it before you link it.
4. Much like Vegas, what happens in All Skates, stays in All Skates (in most cases)
5. Please don't be a dick.

"It is, isn't it?" Warlock agrees. "You shall have to share some food from your own locale next."

"Oh yes, I will be happy to oblige," Tang Fan says. "I can't really cook, but I hope the bar can provide if I tell her to give me two bowls of mince meat noodles the way Sui Zhou makes them."

"Well, I can't cook, either," Warlock admits. "Be grateful I didn't inflict charred Oki-Poki on you, which is the last thing I attempted to make."

"I attempted -- I don't even know what it was supposed to be," Tang Fan says. "Sui Zhou declared it was horrible, I should never cook again and resign myself to just eating, which I am extremely happy to do, especially if he cooks."

"I wish just one of my brothers could cook," Warlock muses. "You should appreciate how lucky you are."

"I do appreciate how lucky I am," Tang Fan says, grinning. "I can live at his house, there is always warm bath water, he cooks as if he was some kitchen deity, Dong-er is safe, and I never starve even when my salary runs out before the month is over."

"A warm bath!" Warlock says, as if the idea had suddenly occured to him. "I forgot I could do that here as well."

"And who is Dong-er?" Warlock asks.

"A warm bath," Tang Fan says, "is one of life's pleasures almost as good as decent food, so of course you can have it here. And Dong-er is a very clever teenage girl who lives with us; she used to be a servant at the place I used to rent, but the mistress who kicked me to the curb didn't want her any more, either, so I bought her contract and tore it up."

No need to rehash the unpleasant bits in the middle.

"She has a perfect memory and needs to see something only once for it to stick. She's a great help if we have a case that we need to go through files for. And she can beat Wang Zhi at weiqi, which is no mean feat."
