Holiday Season Gifts
As usual, Abe no Seimei is not in Milliways for Christmas, because he is either bunkering down for the holiday or celebrating some pre-Christian solstice festival with somebody somewhere. But also as usual, he has arranged for gifts to be given to everyone in the establishment.
For the day of Christmas and the day afterward, patrons will be offered flasks of warm, dry sake or sencha green tea. To his close friends, and those who can’t eat or drink at all (he knows there are a few), he gives gorgeous printed fans depicting winter scenes: stands of birches and iced-over streams, snow-covered pines, snug peasants’ cottages with glowing windows blanketed in white. The fans come with little folding display stands, should one wish to use them that way.
Seimei himself will be back for New Year’s.
