Apropos limps down the steps from the rooms, staff clutched carefully with three fingers as the other two hold a book. He's reading rather intently, other hand going through vague motions as he does. Eventually he finds his way through memory to the couches, where he sits and continues with his work.

He shrugs.

"I've been a fool before. I suppose I can do it again."

He rolls his eyes.

"I'll give this all a chance, if you're really adamant about taking this half-functioning knight as your own."

I make no guarantees I can stay faithful to you, not yet anyway, I'm still not there but if it doesn't bother you I will happily take you as my own. I think it's what I want.

*she grins*

He thinks.

"Hm, let me see. Rather pretty woman, regular sex, a warm bed, and the only thing you're asking of me is that I ignore you cheating on me?"

He shrugs.

"I suppose I don't care as long as you don't expect any more out of me than I expect of you."

Yeah, I think that sounds about right.

Well, I think that works for me. Depending on what you expect of me. But I guess I am pretty much your, well for the most part. If that works for you.

"Works for me, certainly, though I'm pretty sure I'm getting the better part of the deal."

He picks up his book before leaning back onto the couch.

"And we'll both retain our rooms, thank you, but you shouldn't happen to have a room on the first floor, would you? A staff room or something?"

Yes, you probably are getting the better deal but oh well it happens.
*she smiles

She shakes her head*

No, I have a guest room up on the second floor. I'm not staff. That'll be a problem, legwise and all won't it?

He snorts.

"I'm up there as well. I never got around to a staff room, so I live up there. I did leave a note about a staff room since they're doing the work, but I'm still in my room at the moment. I was just wondering if perhaps i might have one bed I don't have to fight to get to."

*she nods*

Sorry, sweetie, maybe they will get you a staff room at some point. I don't know if I can get a room on the first floor since I'm not on staff, but if it would be easier, we could do that. I don't really wanna give up my room though.

"My name is Apropos."

And the fact that he gives her that name to use is something important.

*she rolls her eyes*

Is this an objection to the pet names then? Fine, Apropos it is, nothing more nothing less.

*she grins*

He snorts.

"You're one of all of three people I allow to call me that, Polly. It's a little better than 'dear'. I won't say consider yourself lucky, because you've attached yourself to ME of all people, but there it is."

*she grins*

That is really neat. I think I can handle calling you it then, Apropos.

"No jokes please."

Why would I joke, If you are gonna let me call you that, i shouldn't make it a joke. I wouldn't make it a joke. So, No jokes. What else?

* she kisses him because there was a severe lack of kissing there and it needed to be fixed. She likes kissing him, a lot*

Probobaly because he's never expecting it.

"As you say."

And then he kisses her back because as much of an asshole as he is and as bitter as he is and as sure as he is that this won't end well, he's tired and lonely and wants it, dammit.

You still doing whatever it was you were doing? if not I'll watch till your done.

*she grins, she doesn't figure anything else needs to be said*

He blinks and picks up the text.

"Learning healing magic. And yes."

And he starts up again, peering at her every few minutes.

*she just watches him intently the whole time, cause she is really quite interested in the whole thing*
