Apropos limps down the steps from the rooms, staff clutched carefully with three fingers as the other two hold a book. He's reading rather intently, other hand going through vague motions as he does. Eventually he finds his way through memory to the couches, where he sits and continues with his work.

She picks up his staff and hefts it.
"This is heavy. What sort of wood is it made of?"

"I don't know. It was made by a friend of mine...and I need it to walk, so I'm just a tad touchy about it. Besides, it's got something inside of it."
He presses a certain button...and six inches of steel pop out of the mouth of the beast on the top.
"Rather helpful honestly."

"Whoa. Thanks for the warning."

"Yes," he observes caustically, "'Whoa.'"

"Not really. Baldrick and Penny and I take care of most things."
He thinks of the only ones that he has truly had no problems with the entire time he's been here.
"You could spend some time with the rats. Gil is the only one who speaks with any of them aside from orders. It must get dreadfully boring."

"Yeah, the rats are pretty cool. Nothing like the rodents we had back home."
She finishes her milk and yawns.
"I'd better get back to bed. Nice to see you again, 'Po."

"Never much of a pleasure, Gretchen, but no one really is, so consider yourself a treat amongst refuse."

"I'll keep that in mind."
And wanders back up the stairs to the attic.
