Liam walks in, once again with Megan sitting on his shoulders.

It may be noted that he's watching where he walks, and he doesn't put Megan on the floor just yet.

"Oh, not too bad", he answers easily. "Got it in one."

Megan smiles shyly back.

Esk smiles at Megan kindly.

"Hi there," she says. "I'm Eska. How do you do?"

Megan's smile brightens and she trots out the answer she's clearly been taught. Well, almost.

"I good and you? I Megan."

"I'm very well, thank you." Esk replies, smiling. "Your daddy tells me you've been in here a couple of times."

She looks at Liam and shoots her gaze to a nearby chair.

Liam nods and sits down, shifting Megan easily from his shoulders to his lap.

Megan nods too, eyes wide. "Yes."

"So what do you think of it? It's a great place, isn't it?"

Another nod, and her stock answer to questions of that kind.

"Nice. Unca Char'ee. Choc'lat."

"All good things." Esk agrees. "Have you met Seth yet?"

Blank stare.

Liam shakes his head. "Not yet. She's only been in once since he was born, and Claire didn't bring him down - I didn't like to disturb them. Seth's your new cousin, Meggie", he explains to the little girl.

Esk nods. "Sorry, I forgot. Are you looking forward to meeting him, Megan?"

Megan nods, beaming.

She grins at her, turning to Liam briefly.

"Have you seen Meg since last night? The ballerina?"

"Not since last night... why?"

"She was ill, that's all. I left her in the care of her friend - the Klatchian looking girl with dark skin? - but I wanted to check how she was this morning."

"I'll keep an eye out for her", Liam promises with a slightly worried frown.

"Thanks," Esk replies, masking her own worry, before turning to Megan. "So what do you like to do, sweetheart?"

"Sandpit!" Megan answers instantly. "Val'tine..."

"She was talking to Val yesterday", Liam clarifies. "I think she's been promised a sandpit here."

Esks eyes widen and her eyebrows raise.

"What's that, just a pit with sand in it?"

"And toys. Things to dig with, or make sandcastles. You'd be amazed how much fun a kid can have just with a lot of sand and some bits of plastic."

"But essentially just a big litterbox?" she insists.

"Well. Yes, if you want to put it like that."

"Okay. Well, check none of the multitude of cats we have around here has found it before she has," Esk warns.

Liam nods with a slight smile.

"Definitely. I'm sure Val'll think of something to keep them away."

"Good," Esk grins at the girl again. "Has she seen the trilobites?"

He blinks. "Trilobites?"

Megan looks interested.
