There is a Stanton boy in the bar - no, it's not the usual one.

He's beginning to be able to deal with this quite well, by now, so he simply shrugs good-naturedly and heads over to take a seat at the bar and watch the chaos.

The Rider, sitting calmly at a nearby table and watching the room at large, blinks twice when the sixth Stanton son crosses his vision.

Just because he is now powerless, doesn't mean the Rider can't be friendly.

The Rider saunters over and takes a seat next to him.

"Ah, do you enjoy people-watching too, young sir?"

James looks up, and smiles politely at the sight of Adult Friend Of Family.

"Oh - Mr. Mitothin, isn't it?"

He has not been called by the name in a while, but what does it matter?

"Indeed," he says smoothly, holding out a hand to shake. "You are, I believe, James Stanton? Will Stanton's older brother?"

James shakes the hand, looking rather puzzled. Usually he is known as 'Max's little brother' or 'Robin's little brother'.

"Yes, I'm James. Will's my younger brother."

"Yes," the Rider says amiabley enough, "there's a certain likeness between the two of you. Have you been coming here long?"

"I don't come half as often as Will does," James says, and there is absolutely no bitterness in his voice whatsoever. Really. None. "He's known about it ages."

The Rider raises one eyebrow very slightly.

"Ah, yes. I have seen your brother about here before. Young Will is rather good at keeping secrets, it would seem. I take it he didn't show you the bar?" he queries innocently.

"No . . ."

James scowls, unconsciously, but adds, "He didn't want to worry anyone."

"Well, I'm sure he thought it was the noble thing to do. But it might have been better had he exhibited a little more trust. You're his older brother after all; you would have helped him keep it a secret, I'm sure. If any one in your family had suspected something you could have helped him come up with the clever answers in response to their questions. Or, at the least, you would have been there to stand beside him had they not believed you."

The Rider gives a bit of sigh. "Will is young, though, mind; he does not always make the wisest decisions."

The cabbit hops past. "Meow!" She beams up at him and gives him an ear-wave.

James' eyes are not quite all the way out of his head . . . but it's a close thing.

She's a toddler now. "Hello! Ryo-oh-ki is my name!"

"You're . . . a were-toddler?" James asks, rather weakly.

She laughs cutely. "I'm a Cabbit! Cabbits are space-ships!"

"No, look, you're totally not a spaceship," James protests. "Spaceships are made of - metal. And all that."

And there's a Mordred watching him. Not for very long, but he IS a ghost.

"You look a bit like Will, you know," he comments at last.

James looks over, and blinks. "Everyone says that," he says, rather grumpily. "No one ever says Will looks like me."

He slides his sunglasses down his nose, and gazes at James owlishly.

"Yes, but we all know Will. You, however, are an unknown entity."

"I wouldn't be unknown," James informs him, "if Will hadn't kept his magic bar a secret for ever and a day. Younger brothers."

"Oh, mine isn't that bad. Course, I only have one. Mordred Ambrosius," he offers James his hand.

"And you?"

"James Stanton. I have six - well, five older, one younger. And sisters to boot. It's hell." James shakes the hand amiably. "Mordred, eh? Your parents must really have had interesting expectations."

"You could say that, yes."

"You know, you look a bit like someone I know. Can't quite pinpoint it, though."
