Bartending!
Claire steps behind the bar, Seth sleeping in a baby sling around her neck. She wipes down the bar's surface and straightens the extra glasses, smiling at Charlie playing guitar in the corner.
"What can I get you?"

She reaches a hand out. "I'm Claire and this Seth. Can I get you anything?"
no subject
"You're a friend of Lorelai and Charlie, right?"
no subject
She pours him some coffee and sets it in front of him. "It sounds like fun."

"It shouldn't be too bad. neither of us have really hosted one before, and we may be going out on a limb with the whole classy theme. But, Eris gave us a donation and Dionysus said he would drop by. So with the Olympians' own apple brandy, and the god of partying, we should be ok."
He observes the infant idly and takes a sip of coffee. "Ahhh... perfect."
"Not sure the kid's gonna have much fun though. I made Mike cancel the balloon guy." A comically rueful look follows.

She wipes down the counter with a towel. "So how long have you been here, Indiana?"
no subject
He chuckles. "Not a movie goer, huh?"

"You're an Aussie I take it... from the accent... and you used to live on that island with Charlie and Sawyer, right? Are you bound, or do you just prefer the bar to the beach?"
no subject
She refills his coffee and shrugs. "And Charlie told me you were dating Lorelai. That's about all I know about you, except that you live with Mike."
no subject
He continues after a short pause for snickering and more coffee.
"Before I came here I was a professor of archeology in New York of 1937. I also did some commission recovery work for museumsobtaining some of the rarer and more priceless antiquities from round the world for their collections."
"Explorer, adventurer... treasure hunter. I've been called a lot of things."
no subject
"What's the most interesting thing you've done?"
no subject
He thinks.
"My adventures pale in comparison to what I've experienced here," he opines, trying to buy a little time to come up with something suitably 'interesting'.

"Naturally the time I served in the Great War was interesting. And I rescued a dragon from the Japanese army once."
He says this so matter-of-factly that one might think that dragons were commonplace in his time.
"Recently... well recently in terms of my world... I've had a run of nasty entanglements with the German army. I did find the Ark of the Covenant though, and I kept those Nazi's from taking over the world with its power... sort of."
"It kinda helped itself... truth be told."

"Believe it or not, the Ark showed up here a while back. I'm not sure where it is now... but it's probably safer than when it was just sitting on the bartop."
no subject
She pats the bar lovingly.

"Bloody private collectors," he mutters, still harboring some lasting irritation over that revelation.

He sulks into his coffee for a few moments.
"So what did you do before the plane crash?"
