Anthy is visibly relieved. And content to let Cuthbert defend her.

Manuel looks at Cuthbert frankly.

"Will a slice of Sausage Pizza make you to move?"

"Not terribly fond of pizza, say sorry." Bert responds blithely.

And then, because he has no desire to stand between a crazy girl he hates and a creepy man in underwear all night: "Anthy? Don't you maybe have some roses that need tending or some such?"

He pairs this comment with an under-the-table-foot-prod to Meg, which is supposed to indicate Some help might be nice, yes?

*Meg is too busy laughing at this point.

Turnabout's fair play, after all.*

I don't think, *she says, through giggles,* he's all that fond of - of sausage - either -

"No, I watered them just a few hours ago," Anthy says helpfully.

Manuel raises an eyebrow.

"You like the watersports?"

Anthy stares at Manuel.

Cuthbert is still standing between Anthy and Manuel.

So far as he's concerned, she's on her own as far as feilding the comments goes.

Watersports cause cholera, *Meg volunteers, from under the table.

Yes, this is all the help she will be.*

He strokes his chin.

"Cholera slows people down, no?"

Anthy ignores them all.

She counts roses in her head.

"Can't say I'm certain what cholera is, but it doesn't sound like anything we'd be wanting to get, now does it?" Cuthbert is still blithing it up*. "So I'm afraid watersports are out. For very important health reasons, you realize."

"Thom likes watersports," Anthy announces, suddenly.

*Meg perks up.* Yes! Yes he does. And he's already dead, so he doesn't have to worry about cholera!

*She beams at 'Bert, and perks up so much that she hits her head on the table.*

Ow.

"You need comfort?"

"I'm sure she does," Anthy offers helpfully.

*Meg stares at Anthy in horror and betrayal.*

Turnabout is fair play.

Cuthbert continues to say nothing, but is possibly manuevering himself to be as much in front of both of them as possible.

Manuel is starting to look at Cuthbert speculatively. He has a good pout.

Cuthbert has a pretty good Patented Gunslinger Stare.

You don't pal around with Roland your whole life for nothing, you know.

And belatedly he will appear.* Hi . . . ?

He likes water sports! *Meg says immediately, and ducks back under the table.*

Bert, at the point he's reached this evening, is eyeing the newcomer in a What new devilry is this? type fashion.
