Charlie enters the wear, wearing a green t-shirt that reads "Tis Himself" in gold Celtic-like letters.

His hair is also green.

Please don't ask him to sing "Dannyboy". He might hurt you.

"I got pretty good at evocative music with Yrael for a while there . . . haven't tried since. Um. January."

"I remember. You played me the island."

"Yeah. If I can do that for films it might work out pretty good. Steady work, anyway."

"Sounds like you're on to something."

"Well, you know. Family man and all. Or whatever Claire decides." He frowns a bit. He has no idea how everything is going to work if they get rescued--most importantly, how to get back to Milliways.

"Time enough to work all that out, baby brother", Liam points out.

"Could have a very long time."

"Don't say that."

"It's been nearly a month in island-time, Liam. It's been six months for you with nothing. I don't know how these things normally work but I don't know how long they'll keep looking."

Liam starts to say something, then his head just drops, despairingly.

Charlie leans over and hugs him. "Don't. Don't think that way. Liam . . . come on."

Liam leans into the hug, not looking up.

"You said it, little brother. And you may be right."

"We just need to be ready for all possibilities," Charlie says comfortingly. "I could be entirely wrong. I hope I am--I want us all to come home."

Liam looks up at him with clear eyes and says, "You're not going to get rescued here. And Claire doesn't want to leave."

"All I can do there is wait. I'd rather wait here. And not just because the beer's better." He tries to smile at his weak joke.

Liam is not entirely reassured.

"I'm not saying I want you to go back and not come here any more. I don't, I'd never get to see you if you did that. But, Charlie... if there was a rescue boat, how would you know?"

"Time doesn't--" He's not sure anymore. Both Hurley and Sun have referred to events he hasn't experienced.

"They'll look for us, I hope."

"Who? Claire and Sawyer are more or less permanently here now... I guess there's Walt..."

"There's forty people on that island, about five of which know about this place. There's Sayid and Sun came in today too and Hurley, in addition to the rest of us."

Liam nods, trying to hold onto the hope Charlie's offering.

"I s'pose... the Landlord's letter did make it sound like you would be rescued..."

"Yes, it did. So I'm fairly sure, one way or another, it will happen.

"But nothing's determined. We all know that."

"Yeah, I know." He smiles weakly.

He hugs Liam again and kisses his hair. "Hope, bro. Hope springs eternal and all that."

He nods again.

"Trying to hold onto that. Really. I just want you home."

"I know. I will be. Someday. Hopefully soon. And we've got the bar until then."
