Ryan is sitting at the bar.

He didn't sleep very well.

Right now he's smoking his second third cigarette, drinking coffee and thinking.

Bother him if you want but be warned - he's not in the best mood.

"So you gave her her very own annotated version."

"I did," he replies in an amused tone.

"You'd think she'd save it for posterity."

"I really think she should otherwise if he writes a third book with the same character she might be lost."

"I can't believe that book was a bestseller," he says with a note of disgust.

"At least the movie flopped."

"Well, I never read the Da Vinci Code but as I go through Angels and Demons I try to picture Tom Hanks as this guy and...I just can't."

"I don't think the makers of the movie were going for good casting. They just wanted a big name star who they thought would fill the seats. Could have been Tom Cruise for all that mattered."

"Well," Kim smiles a little. "At least Tom Cruise would have been more believable as a romantic lead."

"Just out of curiosity, what is Chris's room number?"

"Room 27," he responds before thinking.

"Kim, I don't think it's a good idea for you to visit her right now."

"I know but...I have to." And she gives him a look that she hopes conveys the truth of her words.

Kim touches Ryan's hand and then leaves to visit Chris.
