After Bart -- Thad, really, but Tim didn't know that -- had left, Tim had been left alone in the corner booth. He was trying to maintain a semblance of normality. He had...work to do. And he didn't feel like going back to the Tower to do it, since he knew Kon was there doing his homework.
He needed to calm down. To...think logically.
He needed to calm down. To...think logically.

Glancing around the bar until he spots Tim, he heads over.
"Dude," He says brightly as he gets close. "I think I actually get it this time, and -- " He pauses at the look on Tim's face. "...What's wrong?"

Carefully, making sure that he wasn't acting any different than he normally was, he looked over to Kon.
"Nothing. Just a headache," he said.

Kon sits down across from him without asking. "What's -wrong-? Tell me."

It just...hurt. To think that there was even a possibility that Kon would say such a thing. Not to mention the fact that he was shaken by Bart apologizing about the death of his father.

And...well, perhaps that wasn't the best choice of words, but Tim really didn't need to confide in Kon. Couldn't confide in Kon. How were you supposed to tell your best friend that you had been insulted by him in the future?

"If I had to learn better than this, you do too. You'll have to talk about it sooner or later. Why not now?"

"Let. Go," he said in an icy voice.

He doesn't let go yet.

"Why not?"

But apparently, this really shook Tim up.

"What did he say?" Kon asks quietly.

But...that would mean that he would have to talk about how Bart told him his father was dead. And that was somewhere Tim wasn't going to go. Just...no. Never. The mere thought of it sent chill up his spines.
Still, he had to say something. It was clear that Kon wasn't going to let go of him until he told him. And though Tim knew several ways that he could escape, he didn't want to hurt Kon.
"He...told me that we weren't doing so well in the future." That was a vague way of putting it, but it wasn't a complete lie.
