She comes in through the lake door, dressed for riding and with her hair in a long braid down her back... and marsh violets woven into the braid.

As Susan Delgado goes to the bar, it's apparent that soon there will be hot chocolate, as well. Sometimes, it's the little things that bring contentment, say true.

It makes absolutely no sense to her, but magic is enough of an explanation to do fine. She fixes on the rest of what has just been said.

"Months? Oh, Ace-- say sorry, I do."

"But he's here now, and ye-- the both of ye are together again, and that's what's important."

Firmly. She does not look at the door.

Susan's glance at the door triggers a memory.
"Oh!" Mmm... how to explain... straight-forward always seems to work... eventually.
"I... umm.. I met your da."

She goes very still, and her smile is suddenly sweet and sad at once.

"Did'ee, then?"

"Yeah... he was... he was very nice. He seemed very proud of you, Susan." Somehow, she gets the idea that this is important. "He seemed rather happy that you were taking care of horses."

"Aye, ye say true-- he is nice."

And oh, her smile is bright to hear Ace confirm what Pat had himself told her, of his pride.

"He managed the horses on the Drop, do'ee ken? He were the best."

And Susan Delgado, daughter of Patrick, had learned everything that he could teach her.

"He seemed the type that would be good at it. Very gentle. Doesn't startle easy." He hadn't even flinched at the observation window.

Her smile is pleased and proud.

"Aye. He were the best."

"Did you... mmm... did you get to talk to him?" She asks, a touch hesitantly. She'd hate it if the answer is 'no'.

"Aye -- I did, and were able to show him the stables and the horses."

A pause.

"And he met 'Bert, as well, before he left."
