Hagrid's come into the bar for a bite to eat, and a cold tankard of beer. He's in a cheerful mood today, as usual.

And still looking for people to try out his pumpkin boats out on the lake. Any takers?

"Ah, vizards!" she says. "Ve have those. And a school as vell: the Unseen University in Ankh-Morpork.

"So I take it you are a vizard also."

"I am, yes," Hagrid says. "Little late in learnin' magic, but I'm enjoyin' it. Yer not a witch?"

"Ah, no. Vampire, yes. But not a vitch."

"A Vampire!" Hagrid exclaims. "Really? Yer the first one I've met here. I met some back home, but somehow I don' think yer the same kind. The Vampires back home are very....antisocial, and not very nice. Are Vampires common where you're from?"

For all he knows, the whole Disc could be populated with Vampires.

She smiles a little. "Common enough in Uberwald, along with verevolves and dvarfs and those of that ilk. Most of us are antisocial, and not very nice, though ve Black Ribboners tend to be all right." She gestures toward the ribbon pinned to her sweater.

"We've got werewolves an'dwarves, as well, though I dunno how similar they are to your world. Black Ribboners - is that a symbol o' some sort?"

"'One bite would be too many.' I suppose you could call us teetotalers."

"That's quite an ambition," Hagrid says admiringly. "Are there a lot o' Black Ribboners? Does yer society accept yeh, an' all?"

"There's a fair number of us. Many like the possibility of getting vork in the big cities. People tend to be more accepting when they know you von't impale them when their backs are turned."

"Tha's more than my world allows. Most o' what the Ministry considers 'dark creatures' make it nearly impossible ter find work anywhere. A good friend o' mine's a werewolf in my world, and he's force ter live in near poverty because o' it. It don' seem ter matter none that he's a decent person when th' moon ain't full."

She gives him a sympathetic look. "I'm sorry for that. Perhaps he ought to visit the Disc someday. I know a young lady, a verevolf, who has gotten a good job in the Ankh-Morpork City Vatch.

"People can be ever so unpleasant sometimes."

"I wonder if he could visit there some time," Hagrid says thoughtfully. "I've been told he comes here time ter time. People are afraid o' things they don' understand or things that are different than they are. It's a shame."

"I vill see about it. Perhaps a visit vould do him good. And perhaps someday people vill move beyond their fears, though I don't see it happening soon."

"Unfortunately, neither do I," Hagrid said sadly, then in dismay: "Yeh know, I don't think I ever caught yer name! I'm Hagrid."

"You may call me Lady Margolotta. I don't suppose you vant the long form." She extends a hand.

Hagrid takes her hand and smiles. "I prob'ly wouldn't remember it all," he says with good humour. "But it's been a pleasure meeting you, Lady Margolotta. I hope we'll get a chance ter talk again some time. I'm afriad I gotta go now."

"And you, Hagrid. I do hope to see you again."
