Bartending!

Claire steps behind the bar and immediately sets about wiping her down and then straightening the rows of liquor and garnishes. She's in a good mood today and hums to herself as she works.

When she's finally done, she turns to the patrons around the bar and smiles.

"Can I get anybody anything?"

"Think nothing of it." He smiles broadly. "It wasn't you. it was whatever the Hellfly did. There was a lot of that going around. And now that is done and forgotten.

"Can I get a refill on my lemonade?"

"It could have been worse. You were just a bit obnoxious. At least you didn't turn into a man or go through what Charlie did. Though I was there when he snapped back to normal and that was quite a relief to see.

"I am pretty good. Still looking for our phantom, but calm and collected. I guess trip to Vegas does wonders." He smiles some more.

"We had a great time. Though I think if she took me to Oshkosh, we would have had a great time." It's a telling grin, perhaps, but Barry is oblivious to that.

"We visited her old offices - we were in the same line of work with the cops, you know. Went dancing. Saw some sights. Heard some music. Even went to a comic book shop, which was weird.

"And we misse donly one day here."

"We seem to have a ot of parties, but most seem to be too crowded or racous for dancing. Sara and I have a plan to just close the door and play her dad's old phonograph and dance to Sinatra. Though that's private, of course." And he sort of blushes, as is his way.

"But maybe we need a night where the musicans here just play some dance music."

"I don't think Sara would mind. Much. She doesn't seem the jealous type. And I think she knows I only have eyes for her these days.

"But I would want to ask Sawyer first. Just to be safe." Which is to say, to avoid a scene.

"Well, as long as you can, then put me down on your dance card." He laughs a bit.

"Tell me, how did he deal with your...not being yourself last week? Or is that too personal?"

[identity profile] silverageflash.livejournal.com 2005-06-15 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, if he's meant to be something that lasts, he'll forget it after a while.

"Have to say, I don;t know him that well, though. And my early meetings with him were...not too happy. I'm afraid I judged him based on my first impression. Old cop habit, I guess." Barry's turn to be sheepish now.

He nods, and also notices a little that smile. It's sweet.

"I think so. People change here. I'm more relaxed. Less uptight. I think my friends wouldn't be too surprised, but sometimes I am. So it makes sense it could hapeen to Sawyer as well."

[identity profile] silverageflash.livejournal.com 2005-06-15 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"No. Of course not. He would deny it anyway. Most men would." He smirks

He smiles and shkaes his head.

"It's a macho thing. I have no problem being called sweet. My wife did, and i think Sara would do the same. But some men just don't like to me that way. Especially people for whom being tough is part of the job. Like cops, and conmen. Might be the one thing they have in common."

"Perhaps. And I tihnk each of us should have something about our lover that we don't share sometimes." He smiles a little wickely.

"Anyway, I think I shall be going. Have a good one, Claire."
