Bartending!

Claire steps behind the bar and immediately sets about wiping her down and then straightening the rows of liquor and garnishes. She's in a good mood today and hums to herself as she works.

When she's finally done, she turns to the patrons around the bar and smiles.

"Which would you prefer me to use?" she asks, grinning. "And what part of Australia are you from?"

"Whichever you like, honey. I'm from Sydney."

"Me too!" she bounces a little. "You must be the guy my boyfriend told me to meet."

"Would that be Sawyer?"

"Yes," she grins. "Forgive him for however your first meeting went. He doesn't make good impressions usually."

Adam waves it off, grinning. "Oh, he was fine."

"Well. . .that's good," she smiles, surprised. "Can I get you anything?"

"Stoli and tonic, please, love."

"Of course," she grins and makes the drink, garnishing it with a lime wedge. "How long have you been here?"

"A few months. Working here since last week."

"Bartender too, right?" she smiles. "How do you like it?"

He grins and bounces. "It's fun. I do it sometimes in Sydney, to make up the rent."

She laughs. "I did that for a little while too. So what year are you from?"

"1994. You?"

She blinks, and then grins. "2004ish. I think it's a little later in my world right now, but that was the year the last time I was home."

"...huh. Am I allowed to ask you about the last ten years?"

"Sure," she grins. "But I warn you, I was eleven ten years ago. I don't remember much except for my school and my back yard and stuff."

"But stuff's happened since you were eleven."

He hops up onto a barstool and settles to listen.

"Yes, lost of stuff," she agrees and panics a little. She feels she should be better equipped with world events to handle this conversation properly.

"I'm afraid I can only tell you mostly about life, and not much about anything else."

"Oh, that's fine, honey."

"Well, let's see. The most significant things to happen to me have been getting pregnant, surviving a plane crash and getting stranded on a deserted island. Then finding this place." She grins wryly.

"I have a beautiful four month old child and a boyfriend I love and lots of good friends. And all of that's happened here, so I don't plan to leave."

"You came here from a desert island? Well, that's... unusual."

She laughs in spite of herself. "You have no idea."

"So how'd you end up here?"

[sendpeanutbtr.livejournal.com]

"Well, let's see. My best friend died trying to protect me and his boyfriend-- who's an angel by the way, or well, was-- brought me here so I could help bury him. But then my friend came back from the dead and now we all live in a suite together."


She smiles. She thinks that particularly story pretty much says everything you need to know about her.
