After his adventure and conversation with Adam, Raven remains in the bar.

He settles in a booth with some cider and a plate of banana bread.

He's adding beads and feathers to what looks like a dreamcatcher.

Bother him, if you like. Or have some snacks.

[Where Raven meets Asar-suti, for a discussion of purpose, speaks to Ace about Doom, briefly, then discusses food, and with some friend-schmoop. Also, Michael stops by, on Random's recommendation, and they discuss business.]

"They do not look like easy things."

"Will you sit? I have cider, and some type of cake."

Michael hesitates, then sits.

"...yeah. They're not."

"They call me Raven, who sets things right."

"I will listen, if you will speak."

"Michael Guerin. I was told to talk to you, actually."

Raven's interest is raised.

"You were? By who?"

"Some guy I met called Random."

"Ah. I know him. I count him a friend. What did he say I could help you with?"

"...Okay. This part's kind of a long story."

Raven settles himself comfortably in the booth.

"I have time."

"I have this... destiny... thing, with my best friend."

"I am not much of a believer in destiny, on the whole. Though if you choose to follow it, that is a different matter."

Pause.

"But, go on."

"It's what we were designed for. To go back where we came from and... Max is meant to rule, I'm supposed to be the leader of his army." He sighs. "Before, when I was on Earth, I chose to stay. Because it was a one-way trip and I didn't want to go. But things are different here."

"They are different here, yes. But if you truly do not want this 'destiny' of yours, your venture is not likely to succeeed."

"You do not sound overly pleased with the thought, but perhaps I am mistaken."

"...See, I don't know. Max is all for it. And I would have been, once. And if we can do it, it'll be worth it. But unless we can get enough help, we'll be two - three at most - against whatever Kivar can throw at us." Wry grin. "And my wife's not too pleased with the idea."

"And what do you expect Kivar to be able to 'throw' at you?"

"Don't know, but I can take a good guess. He's got supporters, and he might be in a position to command the army that's there. Unless we can get them to turn."

"Good intelligence, and inside agents, are always useful for such conflicts, if I remember correctly."

"You will need exact counts, in order to be able to muster opposition."

Michael nods.

"Trouble is, the only person I know who's been there and would tell us that stuff... is dead. And not here."

"You may have to find a way to get there, and spy."

He nods, and his eyes are kind.

"There must be a way", Michael agrees, determined. "In this place, there has to be something."

"There are charms I can make, that will hide you, for a time. I do not know how well they will hold up on your world--some places and peoples have very good defenses against such."

Michael brightens. "I don't know of anyone from there who's telepathic quite like that."

"It should prove very effective, then. It is always best when the enemy does not know your weapons."

He pauses.

"Are there other things you may need?"

"Most likely, yeah. Weapons would be useful. Or... I'm telekinetic, so's Max. Random said you might be able to help us strengthen that?"

"I can teach you to control what powers you have. I cannot increase them for you."

Well, he probably could. But he won't.
