"Things are better, today?"

And Raven is sitting nearby.

He smiles.

"Yes. More certain, definitely. Better the evil you know than the one you don't."

Raven nods.

"It is always best to see them coming, yes."

He smiles.

"You really do look a lot better, you know. And my Tarot Cards have stopped spazzing out and showing me the same thing over and over. Which is refreshing, really."

"Constant visions of doom are difficult to deal with, yes. What did your cards show you, if I may ask?"

He shrugs.

"I'm having trouble understanding them. Q is bouncing everywhere in so many shapes that he's hard to trace."

Raven's expression grows pained.

"Q?"

"Ominpotent sadist, remember? He's after my friends."

He keeps reading, then gives a sigh of disgust, shuffling the cards back into his deck.

"Smarmy Bastard."

Raven sighs.

"He is everywhere, lately. I have promised to help, as I may."

Random looks up, quickly.

"You need information? I have it. It's hard, but I've been concentrating. I know a lot more about him than he does about me."

"Anything you can provide would be very helpful, yes. I have not met him, which means my capabilities are limited at the moment."

He concentrates.

"He's called Q. His female body is introduced as 'Avonna' or something like that.
He's seeking to understand humanity, but is going to fail as he's going about it by watching their stupidity. He enjoys targetting one individual and making their life miserable. Setting matches underneath them to see how high they'll jump and the like.
He's omnipotent, no particular time, and he hasn't heard of Amber. He comes from something called 'The Q Continuum' the leaders of which he does not have exceedingly smooth relationships with."

He struggles to remember more.

"That's all I can think of, for now."

Raven raises an eyebrow.

"That is not the way to understand humanity, no."

Raven should know, really.

Random nods.

"That's what I told him. Actually, I think it went something more along the lines of 'Go read Shakespeare. Then you'll get it.' But all the same."

He grins.

"His biggest weakness lies in his ego."

Raven grins.

"It is ever so, I think."

"Yes. It is. How did you get involved, may I ask?"

He slides the cards into his pocket.

"I was referred to Lt. Naraht, and I had speech with Ray, in addition to yourself."

Raven smiles.

"In essence, someone asked me."

He nods.

"I thought that might be the case. You're a very trustworthy person, it seems. Were you able to help him regain his shape?"

"No. I had not seen what he was before, and I did not want to risk changing things that were better left alone. So."

He nods.

"Makes sense, of course. That can be dangerous."

"Replace can be with 'is always', and you are closer to the mark."

He smiles.

"Knowing when not to interfere is a useful skill, as well."

Random winces.

"Of course. And too many cooks and whatnot."

"Too many cooks usually end up killing each other, yes."

Random bursts into laughter.

"That's not the idiom I had in mind, but I believe you."

"If you live long enough, and you like people enough, you will see everything many many different times."
