Random's in the bar.
He's looking a lot calmer, drinking his typical Scotch.
And he's reading Tarot. Apparently without any major portents of doom.
Woo bloody hoo.

"I'm sure you'll be fine, though. You're level headed and you have your priorities straight. That puts you one up on most people here. Including me, probably..."
This last one is muttered under his breath.

"I get by with a lot of luck and a little prayer... Probably would do better if I switched the two."
no subject
"I don't know. Depends if you believe the Gods are listening. There's an awful lot of people praying out there, and they're no where further in life."
no subject
"Life isn't measured in distance from a starting point. There is no further."
no subject
"But there is an Amber. And if you travel far enough, all roads lead to Amber."
no subject
"I cannot say."
no subject
"I can."
no subject
"Perhaps so..."

He sips his Scotch.
"But such is life. Have you met anyone interesting since you arrived?"
no subject
"I met a rather cheery young girl named Shelley."
He grinned.
"A pretty thing, really."
no subject
"Oh? That's nice. Tell me about her."
no subject
"She has this odd way of looking when she's feeling thoughtful, she has red-hair, and is not particularly tall."
A pause.
"She does not regularly do strenuous activity."
no subject
"That sounds pleasant. Is her world like yours? With magic, or no?"
no subject
"I do not know."
no subject
"And your world? It does have magic, no? Do you work any yourself?"
no subject
"I can work some magic."
no subject
The disdain for the second option is evident in his voice.
no subject
"My powers were often used to fight demons."
A quick chuckle.
"Yourself?"
no subject
"Useful and flash tricks. Fun, too. Want a demonstration?"
He pulls a deck of Tarot Cards from his pocket, and holds them out invitingly.
no subject
"Why not?"
no subject
"Pick, let's say... five cards."
no subject
"How about these?"
Five cards are pulled from the deck.

His voice deepens, then rises, sliding through impossible registers.
"You, the one called Heart of the Dark, Soul of the Shadow, Elan Morin Tedronai, Rhalen Lyngar, Ba'alzamon, Betrayer of Hope, Ishamael have chosen your cards. They were chosen for you long ago:
Death, Judgment, World, Three of Swords, Three of Wands.
You know their meaning, puppetmaster. Take them as you will."
Random's eyes dull back to their usual green and he sways dangerously, grabbing the edge of the bar.
"Holy shit I should have seen that coming."
no subject
"Impressive."
no subject
He steadies himself again.
"So. Created body? Or borrowed, and believe me, I use that term loosely."
