Random winces.

"Apparently, I have brothers everywhere. Dare I hope that you met Corwin?"

"That would be the one. Interesting fellow." *shrug*

"Careful of him. He's even more of a twisty bastard than I am. And a good deal stronger, too."

Not suprising. Corwin has about a foot and a half on Random.

*Chuckle* "He's not omnipotent. I am unable to fear him. He asked me how I knew of him though, and I feel our conversation took a poor turn from there" *grin*

An arched eyebrow.

"What did you say? I don't believe you mentioned me, but I need to know the exact words."

"I told him that I did not know him by name or reputation, but that I had heard some small amount about Amber. He asked from whom I had learned of Amber, who I was trying to cover for.

I informed him it was my own business and not a cover, that I had my own reasons, for not sharing said information, but that they did relate to someone else. He did guess that it was one of his siblings, but I did not verify it. I did not expect to run into him."

He grins.

"Perfect. Now he knows I have friends here. Thank you, Andres. That was the right reaction to have."

Andres' eyes narrow, unsure if he's missing some sarcasm. "And here I thought you would be angry. I would have avoided him, had I known."

"Hmmm... no. Corwin's safe. His honour keeps him from hurting bystanders in the fights. I quite like him, actually. And he was in the bar before me, though his duties have kept him out in recent days."

"I see. The way you talk about them, or rather, don't talk about them, I was under the impression that they were all bad" *grin*

"Not all bad. All dangerous bastards, but not all bad. Corwin's my choice for succession. And he knows it, so he won't try to do anything to piss me off."

"Very good then. I will also try not to piss him off." *Smile*

He snickers.

"Just be careful. His honour is not something you want to rub the wrong way. It rubs back."

"I will take your advice to heart." *Shrug*

"Honour is like that sometimes."

"Especially for an Amberite. And even more so for Corwin. We all have exceedingly long memories."

"I can believe it." He rubs his forehead again, and glowers in response to his headache. "I'm sorry I am not more talkative on the subject. I still don't trust the man."

He nods.

"Don't. Trust him. Ever. Not a bloody inch. He'll use you shamelessly to get to me. It's in his nature."

"That is not a worry. I wont allow it."
*Shrug* "Know anything of the illness that's going around?"

He shakes his head.

"I don't get sick. My immune system won't let me. But what is it?"

"Not sure really. I've seen a lot of people sneezing and coughing, and suddenly all of them seem to have tails or some such thing. I only know its connected because," *thoughtful pause* Gorlim left a note."

He raises and eyebrow.

"And how is it transmitted? It's obviously magical in nature."

"So I would assume. Beyond that I know nothing. I just wondered if you had heard anything. Likely I am worrying for no reason." *shrug*

He smiles.

"There's always a reason to worry. It's whether it's a good reason that's the question."

"Heh, Gorlim can take care of himself. Six thousand years is more than enough time to learn, but Ellie will not take his leaving well. I really ought to talk to her, to reassure her." *frown*

He thinks.

"I know Gorlim, but I haven't met Ellie. Something tells me it would be awkward. Apparently I 'Look like Faramir.'"
