Nita's practicing the piano. Good for her. The tune is simple, easily recognizable for people from a certain time.
After a little while, she starts to sing -- softly, since she's not that confident in her singing abilities still.
Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, do n do do
Here comes the sun and I say
It's all right
Little darling, the smiles returning to the faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, do no do do
Here comes the sun and I say
It's all right
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes...
Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun, do n do do
Here comes the sun, and I say
It's all right
It's all right

"It's my fault," he mumbles, mostly to himself.

"I knew he was doing things before..." he murmurs. "... I didn't say anything."
It wasn't the first time.

". . .How did you know?"

"He told me." Pause. "My mother told me. I made her promise she'd stop it."
He rubs his forehead.

I don't trust them.

"Why not?"

Another pause, and then, "It's just... different out there."

"Maybe some people," he says.
Pause.
"But things aren't the same here."

"Not everyone changes here," he says. And then more quietly, "My mother didn't change here."

"If that's true, I don't blame you for not wanting to go. . . home."

Pause.
"Did you know she was dead?"
