Chris sits in the bar, staring out the Observation Window and lost in thought.

"Good even, Christine. Can I get anything for you?" Elaine smiles gently, seeing that Chris does not look...happy.

Chris looks up and gives Elaine a small smile.

"Uh...a milkshake would be nice. Chocolate."

"I'll bring that right over." She goes over and actually makes it herself. She's actually quite good at it. She brings it over and puts it on the table.

"How are you faring today?" she asks quietly.

"Thank you," Chris says when Elaine sets it down.

"I'm all right, I was just thinking about things. How are you?"

"I am well. Better than last week, anyway." She looks around. "Things seem to have quieted down a little around here," she comments.

Chris sips her milkshake. "What happened last week?"

"I had...a little panic attack. About Los Angeles." She shivers once, then shrugs it off. "I'm a little better now, though."

She still intends to find Dr. Malcolm Crowe to speak with him about how she should deal with this next.

She looks at Elaine with concern. "I'm sorry to hear that."

"Well, I suppose last week was the first week absolutely nothing was happening long enough for me to actually let everything sink in."

She pauses before asking the next question, since she's pretty much ignored the situation up until now. But she is concerned, after all. "How are you and Jack doing?"

"You were right about Milliways being weird," Chloe states as she walks over to the Observation Window. "So happy I decided to stay."

Chris grins. "Most people find the weirdness a little off-putting."

"Are you kidding?" She laughs. "This place could be the news story of the millenium."

You know, if anyone would believe her.

Chris remembers the camera from the other night.

"You're a reporter?" She assumes a school reporter but she's not sure.

"Yah. With the Smallville Torch. I'm the editor, too."

So what if it is a high school paper?

"Editor," she repeats, obviously impressed even though she would have been in the astronomy club with Clark in high school.

"I'm guessing journalism is what you plan on going into after school?"

She nods, grinning. "I'm planning on getting an internship with the Daily Planet this summer."

Her eyebrows go up. "The Daily Planet...that's a very prestigious newspaper."

Well, the Metropolis comment makes more sense now.

Jack spots Chris as he's heading back from the bar with a cup of coffee, and he heads over to her booth, momentarily touching her shoulder as he walks past and takes a seat across from her. "Enjoying the view?" he asks with a small smile.

Chris looks up at him, smiling slightly.

"I think so. It is beautiful."

He turns, looking up at it. "It is, though there are other views I enjoy as much," he says, looking back at her with a little smirk; enough to show that he knows what he just said sounds like a lame come-on, though it was true.

"How are you? You looked kind of distracted when I was walking over."

She smiles, rolling her eyes.

"I'm all right," she shrugs. "How 'bout you?"

He sighs. He doesn't really want to talk about his argument with Michelle, but then she's certain to find out soon enough.

"Okay. I talked to Michelle the other night." He pauses for a moment before adding, more truthfully, "Well...more like argued."

Chris wasn't too surprised that he went to talk to Michelle but she hadn't expected an argument.

Today is just a day of things Chris didn't expect.

"An argument? Why? Over what she said?"

"Well, I don't know what happened between you two but when she spoke to me, she was only trying to help."
