Yes, it is a Cap'n.

Might be hard to recognize really, as he is not wearing his traditional duster and suspenders; can't deal with 'em sitting over his fun new soon-to-be pretty scars, y'see.

Slipping his way to the Bar pretty much unnoticed - he thinks - he picks up some hot tea and finds an overstuffed chair and ottoman somewhere near the observation window.

Lando, lost in a bit of thought, passes by.

"Good afternoon. Or is it evening?"

"For me it's evenin', sir," Mal returns. "Might be different in your 'verse."

"Don't think I seen you about here before."

"Honestly, I think it's still morning back where I come from." Lando extends his hand.

"Lando Calrissian. I've been coming here for about three weeks, my time."

"Malcolm Reynolds." Mal accepts the handshake somewhat awkwardly, as he is forced to do so with his left hand.

"Sorry - havin' bit of an issue with the other side bein' a bit sore. Doc said I gotta take it easy for a while."

"It's okay. I think everyone has a few days like that. Guess I'm lucky I don't get them that often." Lando wonders just what happened, but doesn't ask, of course.

Few. Heh.

"Been gettin' 'em a bit too of'en I think. At least I won't have to worry 'bout the Alliance on my back for awhile." Mal settles in for another sip of tea, not exactly realizing that he should explain Alliance to folk he don't know directly.

"I beg your pardon?" Lando's hackles get up fast. "I'm somewhat curious in what way the Alliance has been on your back. It's not my business if you want to support the Empire, but I would suggst you reconsider that.

"Assuming, of course, that you are from my time. And if you aren't, I apologize." And it shows where Lando's mind is that he forgets this man might be from a different world altogether.

As Lando began his pro-Academy tirade, Gorramit where's my gun was the only bit Mal could manage to form in his head before he managed to squeeze it through his brain that the two are not from the same place.

"Seein's how I got no earthly clue what the Empire is, I'm thinkin' we ain't from the same place. My Alliance brainwashed lil' children to destroy the universe. How 'bout yours?"

Mal still kinda wishes he had his gun.

Lando smiles faintly. "No, I think we are not from the same place. Sometimes I forget that the Bar has people from a much broader xwath of the universe than I'm used to.

"And thank gods, that is not my Alliance. My Alliance - the Rebel Alliance - is more likely the to oppose that sort of thinking. Though I think that while the Empire is not beyond brainwashing children, even Palpatine stopped short of trying to destroy everything."

Watch Mal's face, ladies and gentlemen, as he recalls other folks who used the terms Alliance and Rebels and Empire before.

"Do you know Jaina Solo?"

Lando smiles more boradly, though there is a hint of worry in the grin.

"Oh, yes. She's the daughter of my best friend. Or will be, since in my time he's still not quite ready for marriage. Can I assume she's told you about the rebellion?"

"Yes she did; haven't heard tell o' her for awhile, though. S'pose I should look her up. Know what she's been up to?"

Lando pauses. Exhales. Makes a worried face.

"She went home for a while. Quite a while. She just got back recently. I saw her today, in fact. And she's...different. She and another Jedi seem to have formed something of a mind link. It's rather disconcerting.

"So if you see her, just be advised that things have changed."

Mal's eyes widen considerably, but taking into account his recent experience with mind links, he will be sure to do so.

"Thanks for the warning."
