*Meg heads into the bar through the front door, and sits down at a stool with coffee and a look of some relief.

She looks like she's had a long day. Which in fact she has.*

There's a vampire she hasn't seen for a while. His mun isn't there for long, but he has missed a certain ballerina.

*And the ballerina has missed him, too - which is why when she sees him, she stares for a second and darts over, with a smile.*

- Nick? Have you been hiding, or what, I haven't seen you in ages!

"Hiding. I'm a great big chicken."

He grins at her before pulling her into a hug. He doesn't just smile at friends. Never been his way.

"Well, that and a few other things. How about you?"

*Meg hugs him back, tightly.*

- this, that, lots - it's been really kind of a very incredibly long past month or so. Don't blame you for hiding, to be honest.

He doesn't feel like explaining just why he'd felt a bit like a chicken. He could mention it, but he'd rather not.

"I've just been trying to keep out of trouble. Considering I'm me, the only way to really do that is to live the life of the vampire hermit."

Well, as long as you come out of your shell at least every once in a while to say salut, *Meg says, firmly.* I mean - how long has it been since I've seen you now?

He smiles.

"However long it is, it's been too long. I will, however...do my best not to repeat the absence."

Good, *Meg says, firmly, and suddenly grins.*

- I mean, you missed my rise to the nobility and everything -

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a perpetrator of bouncy blonde evil in possession of coffee must be in want of a BFF.

Lilly sits down next to Meg, smiling.

"What up, dancing queen?"

*Meg glances over, and gives her a rather weary smile back.*

Not much except twelve hours straight of learning a new routine with the biggest prima donna in the ballet industry - but we put pepper in her coffee, so really it was all good.

Lilly grins.

"Awesome. I'm sorry about the twelve straight hours, though. If you're all sore you're welcome to come up to hot tub any time, it'll really help."

*Meg giggles.* Some time I'll actually take you up on that - I'm still sad I missed out at your party. On that, and the game with the colored circles - what's it called, Twisty?

"Twister," Lilly says.

"Great game, especially when you're drunk and playing with attractive people. You'd be surprised with the kind of 'accidental' groping you can get away with."

I'm surprised they haven't invented it yet, in my time, *Meg says solemnly.* Sounds like it'd be a big seller.

- who votes we bring a set to Susan's bachelorette party?

"Me!"

Lilly grins.

"Speaking of, do you think there's enough time to throw her a bridal shower and a bachelorette party, or should we combine them into a single night of debauchery and presents?"

[balletrat]

. . . I vote single night of concentrated celebration, *Meg decides firmly.* Depending on how soon the wedding is, and all. But that way the presents can contribute to the debauchery!

"Very true," Lilly says.

She smiles affectionately at Meg.

"I do love the way you think."

A small plastic rose appears next to her, along with a small, smiling boy.

*Meg's eyes widen as she sees the rose, and she spins about -

only to see the small, strange boy, and realize that the rose is plastic. And blink.*

- hullo, *she says, getting her bearings again.*

"It's for you," says Al, prodding the rose and smiling. "I'm Alphonse."

Merci beaucoup, then, *Meg says, and grins down at him, with a fair apearance of composure.*

Very perceptive of you, *Meg says, with a bit of a wry smile, and picks up the rose, lightly.* I do kinda need a rose right now . . .

Do you always carry these around to give to random people?

"No, I make them. I'm an alchemist."

Well, you did a good job, it's awfully pretty, *Meg says, with a grin, and then blinks at him.*

Don't alchemists try and turn lead into gold, or something like that? Something about gold, anyways -
