And so. There's a very well dressed gentleman standing by the door to Milliways - naturally enough, he has a rather surprised expression on his face.

He's not wearing a tuxedo and there are no gorgeous women draping themselves over him. No vodka martini or Walther PPK in his hand either - in fact, he thinks he was about to get fired. So maybe he's a bit relieved to find himself here. He just wishes he knew where 'here' is.

James Bond is in the bar.

"Right," Xander says. "There are pretty much as many parallel universes lying around as there are cable channels with nothing good on."

He doesn't know what cable is, he doesn't like television much. But a thought does strike him. 'Does that mean it's possible to run into an alternate version of your own self?'

It's an alarming thought.

Xander considers this.

"I haven't, but I don't see why not. I mean, your own alternate universes probably got invited to the party, too."

He blinks. 'That would be...strange. To say the least.' He changes the subject rapidly. 'What's so wild about your version of California then Mr. Harris?'

"Well, there's not much that isn't wild," Xander says, shaking his head. The alcohol remains untouched. "Pick an occult phenomenon and we've got it."

He's not offended about the untouched drink. Just thinks its a little strange. Kind of like Xander, but not in a bad way.

'Must make life interesting. Are you looking forward to going back?'

"Strange" is Xander's middle name.

... Actually, it's "Lavelle."

He shrugs. "Well, you know. If I get back. I suspect there's some magical, universal lesson I'm supposed to be learning, but I really don't have a clue what it is." He grins. "Anyway! It realy is a cool place. I've made some good friends."

...which is strange in itself. :D

He laughs. 'Oh dear, I hope we're not supposed to be here to learn lessons. I'll never get out. But if the people are interesting, I'm sure the stay will be worth it anyway.'

He grins.

"Yeah. Interesting would be the word." Pause. "On that note? Don't trust the sharks, even if they talk to you. And they will."

'Sharks.' He's had a few bad experiences with the creatures. 'Talking sharks. Right. Where do you keep them then?'

"Ideally in the lake, but one of them keeps walking around pretending to deliver candygrams."

He stares at Xander and honestly starts to wonder if the boy is all there. Or whether he's high on something. He just nods with an extremely sceptical look on his face.

"... Okay, I am so not kidding. There's a notice up on the bulletin board and everything."

'The bulletin board. Alright. I'll...uh, take a look.' Maybe Xander is serious - but it doesn't stop it being extremely weird. 'How does a shark 'walk around' exactly?'

"It's called the 'landshark,' and is apparently Chevy Chase in another dimension."

He pauses.

"Remember that I never claimed ANY of this made sense."

He has to laugh. 'It's a good thing you didn't - because none of it does. But that's alright I suppose...I'm in a magical bar when I'm supposed to be in a meeting with my boss so I can believe just about anything.' He has a drink. 'I do hope that's the strangest thing you have to warn me about though.'

Xander shifts guiltily. "Uhhh ..."

He raises an eyebrow. '...yes?'

Good Lord, there can't be anything more odd tan that can there?

"Well ... you know. Weirdness in the eye of the beholder."

He doesn't mention the zombie Star Wars porn.

Or the enchanted wish-granting lube.

Or any of the Endless.

And Bond is very very glad he doesn't. Because...yeah. A guy from the sixties who isn't a hippie probably shouldn't have to know about those sort of things.

'Indeed.' He finishes his drink. 'I want to thank you for your assistance Mr. Harris. I'm going to go and find my room. It was nice meeting you.'

"Right," he says, nodding. "Uh ... same here. Be seeing you, Mr. Bond."

He tries really hard not to make it sound like Meester BOHND.

Bond would probably just think him more strange if he did, but it would still be hilarious for his mun anyway.

Instead, he just nods and says, 'Yes, I'll see you again I'm sure. Good night Mr. Harris.'
