An attractive entrance...
Thomas Raith, formerly of the leading House of the White Court, scrounges around in the ice box for a minute before looking up with a grumble.
"Harry, we're out of beer ag--"
Blink.
Stare.
"Okay, no shortage of beer, I'm thinking, but sudden shortage of apartment."
He winces.
"Harry's going to kill me."

"Harry's going to kill me."

"That's cool. Can, uh..."
He pats his pocket, glad to see that he hadn't taken his wallet out of his jeans when he'd come in from walking the dog.
"Can, uh, I get you a drink? Since mine's free and all."
Smooth, Thomas. Smooooth.

"I think I'll take you up on that, Thomas." She had come in a little while ago from target practice, after all. "A lemonade, if you could. And oh, if the bartender's not there, you can just ask the bar."
Because, you know, talking to an inanimate object wasn't strange at all. Nope.

"Lead the way, Lian?"

She put her arm through his, smiling up at him as well.
"It'd be my pleasure." And off to the bar they went. Which really wasn't that far away, really.

"Ladies first."

With a slight laugh, she ordered her drink.
"A lemonade please," she asked the bar, since the bartender was not present. And, of course, she delivered -- a nice cold glass of lemonade, just how she liked it.
"Thank you," she told the bar, patting her surface.

"Ale?"
And when it pops up, it's even the kind he was hoping for.
"Okay, that is cool."
He lays down a few dollars, which disappear a moment later.

"She can pretty much provide you with anything you need, if you simply ask. If you plan on staying, whether for a long period of time or for just a night, you can ask for a room." Because, hey. Her initial motive was to help the man out with adjusting here.
no subject
"Sounds good, though I don't think I'll be getting a room. I'm kinda...low on the funds as it is. A drink, sure, but I can't really pay for a hotel room right now."
He'd just lost another job a couple of days ago. It's rather hard to keep them when your boss/co-worker/customers/mailmen/women/just about anyone with eyes...jumps you while on duty all the time.

And it was probably a good thing that Lian had a lot of self-control, then. Came with the crime-fighting territory.

"Gotcha. Well, I'm sure Harry would like his apartment back, but I'll have to think about it. She doesn't, uh, send the barstools after you if you don't pay or something, does she?"

"People who want money are usually pretty scary...and the people they send after you are almost always even scarier. I think I'll avoid that if possible."
