OOM: Pre-Milliways
Todd stumbled in, and nearly dropped his books in shock. Since when was his dorm room a bar? This made no sense, they didn't allow liquor at Welton. He turned around, wondering where he was.
A place to truly live deep and suck all the marrow out of life.
Milliways.
He then spied a familiar face, also looking confused.

Milliways.
He then spied a familiar face, also looking confused.

But it wasn't Neil. In fact, his name was James Wilson, and he was an oncologist. He was also oblivious of Todd's presence for the time being, eating some onion rings at the bar.

Todd was still looking around, when he spied a face. It can't be? He started towards them, only, no. He's older.
He still couldn't help shakily ask, "N-Neil?"
no subject
"Can I help you?" He asked, cocking his head the one side as he observed Todd, oblivious.
no subject
It's not Neil, it's this grown-up, never was Neil.
Neil's gone. And the reminder just hurt all over again.
He wiped at his eyes that were threatening to tear up again.

A frown came to his lips when he saw that somehow, he had upset the boy. Perhaps not intentionally, but that didn't mean he could just leave it alone.
"There's no need to apologize," he reassured. "Are you sure there isn't something I can help you with?" He asked sincerely.

"Here, why don't you have a seat? You look like you could use something to drink," he said gently, gesturing to the seat next to him.

And he thought he could hear Mr. Keating quoting, 'Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less travelled. And that has made all the difference.' Neil took the road less travelled, like Keating, and look where it got them.
This man seemed to have taken the more travelled road.
And as odd as it was introducing himself to this older, not Neil, he said, "I'm Todd Anderson. I-I just got here."

"Well, welcome to Milliways, Todd. If I can call you that," he said with a soft, friendly smile. "I'm James Wilson." He offered his hand to the boy.
no subject
He shook James's hand, "You may, sir. Pleased to meet you, Mr. Wilson."
no subject
"So. Has anyone given you the welcoming speech yet?" With the rules and such.

"It'll be my pleasure to do it, then," he said with a friendly smile.
"Welcome to Milliways, the bar at the end of the universe, where people from all sorts of different worlds and times gather." He gestured to the observation window as well.

Todd still glanced around in disbelief. That might explain some of the strange people or beings he was seeing around here.
He glanced back, "Different worlds?" 1960, the space race was still in progress, and the Apollo missions were still being planned.

"Some people come from places that have magic. Others, who have technology. Some people look different altogether..." he shrugged his shoulders some. "It's odd, but you get used to it."
no subject
He did say, "It's uh, amazing."
no subject
"Oh, do you want a drink? The first one is on the house." Which was another part of what he was explaining, wasn't it?
no subject
He then said, "Oh, I'm ok, thanks."
(ooc: not a problem, bouncing between several slowtimed threads as I can. Have a safe journey.)

"There's a few rules here that you need to follow. They're pretty simple, really. No violence, no sex, and no business in the bar. If you want to engage in those activities, you can either do it outside -- " he gestured to the door leading to the lake, "or get a room." Another gesture up the stairs.
no subject
Sheesh, you think innocent and virgin as a boy scout choirboy come to mind here?
The no business one he wasn't completely clear on, but seemed ok.
And a lot easier to deal with than the many rules at institutes like Welton Academy.
"I see, sir. I don't have a problem with any of them."
no subject
"Also, if you want anything to eat or drink, just ask the bar, if there's no bartender. If you can't pay right away, she'll start a tab for you."

"If you need anything, don't hesitate to find or ask for me, all right? I'm pretty much in the bar or upstairs in my room most of the time."
