He's left Triumph sleeping upstairs, and is downstairs.

At the piano.

With a half eaten sandwich on top.

Bar has taken to refusing his Vicodin until he eats, instead of giving it to him *with* dinner.

He's not happy about that.

He has to finish the sandwich befor ehe can get the pill. He's really not happy about that.

Behrooz doesn't look up. He just says, "Yeah."

"Did something happen to her, Behrooz?"

Pause. "Yes."

"Do you want to talk about it?" his voice was quiet, but supportive.

"I... don't know," he mumbles uncertainly. This is not a code phrase for 'no' - he honestly isn't sure if he should talk about it.

"Sometimes it helps, if you talk about things that are bothering you." House offers quietly.

Behrooz doesn't say anything for a moment.

Then, "It's always the same thing. I don't.. say anything... soon enough."

"Did something happen to her because you didn't do sometihng? Behrooz..." He doesn't know the situation, and can't really tell the boy it wasn't his fault, even though he thinks it's not likely that it was. But he knows Behrooz well enough by now to know he'll shut down in a milisecond...And he doesn't want that.

"I should've just done what they told me to..." He doesn't look up. "Just... stopped talking to her..."

A picture is starting to orm in his mind. Not clear, not at all clear, but bits and pieces, and what he pictures makes his heart break for Behrooz and this girl he's talking about.

He says nothing, allowing Behrooz time to think and say what he needs to say.

"... I shouldn't be talking about this," he says after another long moment. "I... it's not something I should..."

"I understand." House nods. "But it's obviously something that's causing you a lot of pain. I'm not a psychologist, but I am your friend. "

"I know," he mumbles. "It's just... it's not... it shouldn't have happened..."

[OOC: No worries, my AIM is being wonky, I just decided not to fight with it]

House remembers Behrooz telling him he killed his father, which makes the wheels in his head spin. "Did...did your dad hurt her?"

"No." Not directly, anyway. But he doesn't go into that, he just keeps watching the keys.

Well, that's good, isn't it? Except that something happened to her. And Behrooz feels at least partly responsible.

House only nods, what else can he do, othe than ask him... "What happened?"

Except he's asking about the wrong parent. Um.

"She... saw something... and my parents..." he shifts uncomfortably and doesn't look up. "They told me... but I couldn't..."

It'd probably be nice if he wasn't leaving out very important words.

it takes a moment or two, but canon tells us Hosue is a brilliant guy. He has the gift of reading between the lines.

"They wanted you to...take care of her." He says quietly.

Pause.

"... she knew I wouldn't do it..." he mumbles.

House feels the energy around him shift. That's not good. That's so not good.

"She...your mother?"

[OOC: I know this is your last night online for a while, yes? And this is so...breaky and I hate to...but I'm about to crash...I may make one or two more comments, but...I have to sleep...*hugs*]

"Yes," he murmurs.

"Behrooz..." He wants to hug him, reassure him...But he's no very comfortable with that sort of thing, and knows Behrooz isn't either.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry..."

"Stop it," he says quietly, though his voice has a bit of an edge on it. "Just... don't say that..."

House nods and rubs a hand over his face.

He's at a loss for what to do now, what to say.

He just looks at Behrooz.

After a moment, "I shouldn't have said anything. That was..."
