David takes a seat at a table, a stack of books next to him. He isn't reading. He's just observing the people around with interest, particularly if they are eating.

[ ooc: eep! need to take a break with david...slowtime/fade? ]

Elaine comes down and sits across from David. It's early, and her shift hasn't started yet, but she's dressed for it.

"How are you today, sweetheart? What are you reading?"

[identity profile] maid-of-astolat.livejournal.com 2005-09-12 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
She smiles back. "What part are you reading?"

She's read most of the versions of the story by now.

"Well, I wasn't there, it happened when I was only a very small girl. But my father was there, and he told me it was so."

"Once, when I went to attend court with my father. He was not tall, but he was a big man. A kind person." She smiles.

Johnny was idly munching on a cheeseburger and fried paradoxes on the side with a coke. He glanced over, and gave the seeming boy a warm smile.

(ooc: want to play, but replies will be slowtimed due to class schedule today, and limited connection times. if you'd rather, they can meet another time? Just that David would remind Johnny of his own son, JJ, plus being a science teacher, he might be able to relate.)

(ooc: k, cool. I only have the one class tomorrow so will more time then too.)

Johnny grinned, and not surprised that the boy was probably nervous. Probably been taught not to talk to strangers. Wise advice.

He said in bright, cheerful tones so as to reassure him, "Hi there. It's ok, you don't have to talk if you don't want to. You're new here, right?"

"Nice to meet you, David. My name's John Smith. You're welcome to call me Mr. Smith if you prefer." Johnny warmly replied, falling back into teacher mode easily.

How about a mermaid eating ice cream? Naraht has decided to expand on that particular horizon, but asked Bar for something a little less sweet than what Lando had gotten her.

She's now rather enjoying the green tea flavor Bar has produced.

Naraht looks up and catches the child's eye. She waves at him with her spoon (fortunately the large dollup of ice cream doesn't go flying across the Bar). "Hello there," she says.

If David was an adult, Naraht would probably launch into the infamous Explaination. However, this is a child and she figures that it's probably best not to confuse him unnecessarily.

"That I am," she says with a smile. "My name is Naraht."

Al walks by and looks at the book and the little boy with interest.

"Hello, I'm Al. What books do you have?"

[identity profile] armoralchemy.livejournal.com 2005-09-12 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Al blinks as David hoardes.

"I've never heard of those. Are they stories?" he asks, holding up his own book. "I have a lot of science books at home, like this one."

The book is easily half as big as Al, and is covered with a complex alchemic array.

He's more real than David, OH. Yeah. I went there.

. . . yes. yes he is.

"I'm from Amesteris," says Al. "We might be from different worlds," he adds, kindly. "That happens here. I don't know why."
