As has been reported elsewhere, Melkor is in the bar, having enjoyed a series of more Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters than most sentient beings can comfortably comprehend.

The Vala, however, is unfazed. To him, they simply taste... rather fruity.

Better than the scumble he tried yesterday, at least.

Ew, Spider would have said, had he been in the presence of scumble.

He isn't too fond of Gargle Blasters either, but then again, alcohol doesn't do a thing to him.

No, it's simply appearance that draws him over. And he sits down right nearby, rolled-up marijuana in his mouth and hat tipping mostly off of his head. He sort of looks like a bum pothead hippie ... except for where really, he isn't human.

"Well, hello, old chap. What brings you by?" Spider asks, as if he's known Melkor his entire life.

"Oh, quite good, my friend, quite good indeed! It's rather really appropriate of a place like this one. People, seats, bedrooms, plants, gardens -- the plants, they're fab, and the music, and the people, and the plants, and ... right."

Spider grins.

And offers him the pot, calmly.

"Smoke?"

"It grows on my floor upstairs. Fine stuff for coming from nothing but my fingertips -- then again, plants do that. I'm agriculture. They call me Spider. And I'm one of those too. Nice to meet you, chap."

He's still grinning.

Spider sniffs the air.

"I have never heard that tongue before, my friend. However, I can say that I posess other names as well - that of Anansi, of Anassasem, and whatever else you may like - and my name is what I am, is my power, is my function."

Typical Trickster speech.

Asar-Suti walks by with a stack of books under his arms, and stops as if having hit an invisible wall.

Not even Kal Torak felt that strong and dark.

"You must be Melkor," he states to the man driking a Garagle Blaster, remembering what Gorlim told him.

Calling the fellow 'Morgoth' would probably be impolite.

"Yes - worlds want a dark power so the stories get moving. I have been that in my world," Asar-Suti agrees.

"Asar-Suti, the Seker," Asar-Suti says. "My people were called the Ihlini, but you'll never have heard of us; we're from a very different world. I have heard of you, though."

[identity profile] asar-suti.livejournal.com 2005-09-26 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
"No," Asar-Suti says, smiling slightly. "We haven't. But I have been living in this place for many months, and this is where all worlds convene. I have read chronicles of your world, and one of my best friends, Gorlim, is from there."

[[OOC: Slwotime, please? AS's mun is at GMT +1, which means quarter to four at night. And work tomorrow - eeeep! I just couldn't pass up another Dark God.]]

"We have a library," Asar-Suti says, patting the stack of books he is carrying. "Or rather, two of them; a magical one that can be used by invitation only and which probably will not interest you much, and another one with normal book from several different worlds. There, we have chronicles of the tales in which you were involved, both from your world and from others."

Better bring Melkor gently towarads the knowledge that there are many worlds, and only one in which he was, or would have been, powerful. Such dark deities did not like to hear the news that they were but one among very, very many, and their world was in fact inonsequential to most, and their power very relative when faced with Milliways security.

But then, Kal Torak, who had lost his self-control on being told that, had been insane. Melkor, on the other hand, appears sane, even good-humoured, if snarky and with some sort of dark, hidden purpose up his sleeve.

Exactly like Asar-Suti himself had been when he came here.

"The magical library is in room 79i; I take care of it, together with my friend Eskarina Smith, a female wizard; that's a bit complicated. The non-magical library which is open to all is under the care of a girl named Hermione; it's next door to ours, in room 89. Erm, that's a bit complicated as well. Anyway, the books you'll be wanting are probably all there," Asar-Suti tells him, repositioning his own stack of books.

Many worlds. Infinite possibilities. It would be entertaining, Asar-Suti thought, to see Melkor find out about them all.

Asar-Suti looks at Melkor with a little smile.

"I'll be seeing you around," he says, and wanders off with his books.
