To her surprise, the door was unlocked. Still is.

She'll be leaving tomorrow -- come talk to her before she does.

'I wish you well, then,' he replies. He looks a little more grave now, but his expression is still kind. And he slips into the Old Speech, giving his words a slightly more formal tone. 'A safe journey, and good fortune in your work -- in the Light's name.'

'It often is, after a hiatus.' Merriman picks up his refilled glass of port. 'Rather like facing a Monday morning on a far grander scale.'

He tilts his head to one side, looking pensive for a moment. 'Do you expect difficulties, upon your return?'

He studies his glass, swirling it gently. 'Merely a question. As unpredictable as things may be here, they seem to be even more unpredictable out there.'

He takes a small sip of his port. 'I will not keep you, for I am certain you have other preparations to make. But do take care, and I hope that you will return here if the opportunity presents itself, Miss Callahan.'
