The bounce factor of the bar has just gone up.

Carmela is at the Bar, spinning slightly on her stool.

"Hmm. What can you surprise me with? Something fizzy."

The drink produced is a pink not usually found in nature. Carmela beams. "Rakki."

Ray happens to be getting a drink at the Bar himself as the 'surprise me' order is posed. He glances curiously at the glass, and smiles. "The last time I said something like that, this is what I wound up with," he says. He touches the Bar lightly. The stuff that appears in his glass is dark green, faintly opalescent, lightly fizzy, and gives the impression of sluggishly moving.

"Yours looks marginally less scary."

She eyes his. "What is it?"

She pokes the glass curiously, but is smart enough not to touch the liquid inside. For the moment.

"Not sure," Ray says, "but the design specs I gave Bar included 'totally artificial' and 'nontoxic to standard Terran Homo sapiens sapiens' as well as 'non-alcoholic'. So it's safe for humans, but beyond that I don't really know. Although it did knock out an orangutan last night when he tried it, but that was only temporary."

"My name's Ray, by the way."

"Well, Twinkies fit that description too, but I don't know if I'd call them safe."

She beams at him. "I'm Carmela."

"Twinkies." Ray shudders. "Man, you should see my buddy Egon- he goes through Twinkies the way scary Japanese guys go through hot dogs on the Fourth of July at Coney Island."

Pause.

"... um. I should probably mention that I'm from early twenty-first century Earth, in case the cultural references don't match up."

She snaps her fingers and bounces. "That guy! He's crazy! He's like a hundred and twenty pounds!"

Clearly, the cultural reference sticks.

Ray grins. "Oh, you've met him? Or do you just know him from the movie?"

Yeah, he knows. He's seen. Twice, in fact.

"No, just heard about him. Have you?"

Ray grins and flips out an ID from his wallet. There's a Ghostbusters corporate business card in there, along with a card from the City of New York that amounts to a license to remove supernatural pests and do whatever the heck he wants with them.

"I've known him since I was eleven. I did say colleague."

Michael eyes her drink dubiously from further down the Bar.

Carmela sips it and eyes him back. Cheerfully.

Yes, he is. And wearing a wedding ring, Miss Rodriguez should notice. He quirks a grin at her.

Pssh. He's too old for her, anyway. Carmela has some standards.

She considers him. "So where're you from?"

"No. It would've been kind of hard to blend in if I was."

"You actually ask it to surprise you? Now that's some guts."

Snarky blond vampire, leaning against the bar and watching her.

"Guts," she replies, picking up the glass, "are what I do best. Among other things."

She raises the glass to him and takes a swig.

He sketches a bow at her, with a grin.

"then, I salute you."

Spike totally just made a friend for life. Afterlife? Whatever.

Carmela grins back, and wrinkles her nose. "It's fizzy. Wanna try?"

Actually, technically, Spike is still alive. Well. Undead. Er. Right then.

"Sure, why not?"

And he takes a sip himself.

"Fizzy. Argh."

Exactly. The semantics are complicated.

Vampire terminology is like Time Travel tenses. They just don't work.

"Weird."

He offers his hand

"Spike."
