The bounce factor of the bar has just gone up.

Carmela is at the Bar, spinning slightly on her stool.

"Hmm. What can you surprise me with? Something fizzy."

The drink produced is a pink not usually found in nature. Carmela beams. "Rakki."

"Oh." Momentary disappointment, and then a bright, innocent smile. "No reason."

Innocence!

He eyes her, amused.

"Sure."

"What?" Still with the over-the-top innocence. "Perfectly legitimate question."

"It is", he agrees. "Just a weird one, without context."

"Oh, I'm just curious about other planets. I've only been on a couple, after all."

"Fair enough. How'd you come to be on any at all that weren't Earth?"

Casually -- "I was helping my brother and his friend save the Universe."

He raises his eyebrows. "Nice. Save it from what?"

"Oh, you know." She handwaves again. "Destruction. The Lone Power. Giant bugs. Stuff like that."

"Different universe, maybe. I've never heard of the Lone Power."

"No? I thought It was pretty universally known." She shrugs. "It helped create the Universe and then went bad. It has a lot of interest in ending everything."

Another shrug. "I mean, it's more complicated than that, but hey, I'm not a wizard."

"...wizard?" He grins. "You from Nita's world?"

"Yep! You know her?" Without really waiting for an answer, she continues, "I swear, I couldn't believe she kept this place quiet from Kit and me so long."

"Would you have... well, I guess you really would have believed her if she had, huh?"

"After our dog asking us what the meaning of life is? And the TV and the DVD player arguing with each other? I hope I can handle a Bar at the End of the Universe."

"Your dog...? Huh."

"Yeah. He was a cool bakeru."

For the first time, Carmela looks a little wistful, as opposed to bouncy. But it passes quickly.

He catches the 'was', but doesn't push.

"Just a dog, or something more?"

"Well, after he went all crazy powerful and godlike. . ."

"Where'd the powers come from?"

"Search me." She shrugs and sips her drink.

"Fair enough. What year are you from, by the way?"

"2005. You?"

"2002, last time I was on Earth."

"Which was how long ago? How much gossip should I fill you in on?"
