Jane Eyre slips in unobtrusively; Mr. Rochester would say it is due to her fairy feet. She would say it was from growing up in her aunt's house, tiptoeing to avoid her horrid cousins. Either way, she is now sitting quietly near the fire, enjoying a repast of tea and scones. Cranberry scones, even. She must be in an adventuresome mood.
She hums a quiet tun to herself as she surveys the room.

Of One that lov'd not wisely but too well."
He grins at her again as he tosses it back to her.

She bravely tries to stave off what she hopes was an innocent quotation, as ahe found it biting too close to the bone, reminding her of whence she fled, and wherefore.

[ooc: sorry about that... got involved in dnner and fiance and...yeah. Feel free to comment at your leisure. I would like to keep this going.]

"My thanks."
He smiles.
"Have you been here long?"
(ooc: collpased last night myself early. and yes, this is fun!)
no subject
"I thik I have been here several months, although I cannot be sure. Time runs so strangely here."
no subject
"I have been here four months myself. It has been an adventure... and sometimes a very interesting one."
He smiles, close-lipped.
"Have you met very many people here then?"
no subject
"No, I am afraid that I have met few people here. I have spent most of my time ....thinking, in my chambers."
She omits that she had definitively been brooding, most notably on the figure of Mr. Rochester. She focuses on her companion to prevent her beloved's face from appearing befor her eyes.
"I am not accustomed to meeting people. My lie until now was a fairly sheltered one."
no subject
"I understand. Life is oft more complicated here than we know elsewhere. I hope that you will find yourself out amongst more now. For it is well said that 'there are more things on heaven and earth than are dreamt of in your philosophy'... or somesuch, I wont."
no subject
"I suppose that I have made a start of it. Little good will come of hiding away, and much good from the quiet application of good manners.
"I am also confused of one thing. I have heard of many thingsto be found in the West, yet I have not heard of..." She pauses, trying to sound polite. "Creatures, erm, person such as youself living there. I admit my eduation is a bit lacking but..." She trails off, embarrassed.
no subject
"your manners do indeed do you honor, madame. I am, I believe, from your future and also, from a different Earth. "
he pauses for a moment, then speaks on, almost as a professor lecturing.
"Know you, that there are more than one universe, like pages in a book, each slightly different, and yet next to one another. Each bears a similarity, the size and shape and the materials used to make it, as do the pages, and yet the words, and the substance of them are different. So it is here, where all of those come together and people from any page, or universe, may come. Think of this as the binding, where all pages end."
no subject
"But sir, why would such a thing exist? For God created darkness and light, the heavens and the earth. I distinctly remember it not being plural."
no subject
"And yet in the commandments it says to take no other Gods before him, By that simple statement, it says that there are other Gods. Why would they not create universes as well? Besides, we do not know the mind of God. Just because he didnt tell us about soemthing in the bible, doesnt mean he didnt do it..."
no subject
"Sir, what you say is on the boundary of heresy. While i am inclined to be doubtful of the Bible, I have experienced little that might replace it.
"Do you know of such things?"
She gently finishes with the last of her tea.
no subject
"I know a little of the Bible and while conventional beliefs of uit may say what I state if heresy, it is there in the bible for all to read. Never does it deny the existence of other Gods, merely that none are greater than him and that none may be placed higher than him, and that none may be worshipped by one who worships him. "
He blows out a breath of air.
"I do not mean to offend you, undeerstand that. I merely look at things and read them clearly and with an understanding of what they say by what is in those times when they were written."
He also nods at the end.
"And yes, I have expiernced things not written of in the Bible. This place would qualify as one and some of the residents would qualify as others."

Perhaps she will want that spiked tea after all.

He sounds honestly curious, his glasses glinting in a stray light from the fire.
He thinks about her second question.
"There are... many beings of power here... some of whom are... are those who have been known as Gods on Earth."
His voice is low and quiet and gentle.
no subject
"I was, though. When Mr. Broklehurst said that younger, far less wicked young children were going to heaven everyday, I replied that I must take care of myself and never die."
She reveals her pearly white teeth in a grin.
"I am afraid I shall never be as good, as kind or as patient as my dear friend Helen Burns was."
She stops. "Gods?"
no subject
he smiles wryly and nods.
"Yes. I am afraid so."
he looks down and then up at her.
"Do you really want to know who? Once spoken the knowledge is impossible to unknow..."
no subject
"I highly doubt that anything could suprise me, after my... That is not important. please proceed."
