*Whistling, Alanna dashes through the front door and back to the staff quarters, returning a few minutes later with a green dragon tucked under her arm. After a quick trip to the bar for food and drink, girl and dragon flop down on the sofa. It's entirely possible that Alanna has decided that now is a good time to educate Puff on Tortall's Code of Chivalry.*

And don't worry, you aren't big enough to warrant slaying... oof. I can not teach well without eye contact, Adam.

*Of course she knows it's him. Okay, perhaps it's just an educated guess. She grins, blowing at a stray piece of hair out of the corner of her mouth.*

How'd you know it was me?

*He hops over the edge of the couch and flops down next to Alanna and Puff.*

And really, she should be thanking me. Whatever she did to warrant lessons, it can't be that bad.

*He's kidding. Mostly.*

I'm very talented. Besides, I recognize your scent. *She waggles her eyebrows and laughs.* I'm surprised she didn't attack for the obviously threatening manner in which you covered my eyes.

*Alanna winks.*

She did nothing to warrant lessons as a punishment. I just thought she might like some company. Besides, everyone should learn about our Code of Chivalry. *She averts her eyes, grinning, and rips a piece of bread in half.*

*Adam asks, poking her with a foot.*

*Alanna grins wolfishly and nods.*

Aye. Everyone. People could benefit from being told to be kind to their fellow man or woman, to protect those that can not protect themselves, to live in a way that will be an honor to them when they meet the Black God...

*Adam snickers a little bit.*

Sort of like "Honor thy mother and thy father"?

...Yes. Or thy manservant and village healer. *Alanna wrinkles her nose and smiles.* All very valuable lessons.

*Adam smiles back, and settles in.*

I'm coming to think that every world's got some variety of the same thing. So. What's this code of chivalry say?

All of that, and much more. To wear the shield of a knight is no small matter. I may not look away from wrongdoing. Oh, and a knight must always be gentle.

*She snickers.*

*Adam laughs.*

I'm assuming that doesn't count for dancing.

Okay. So, you can't look away from wrongdoing. Anything else?

Barry sees Alanna enter. With a lizard under her arm? He watches, and concludes that this is no lizard.

"Er, hello, Alanna. Is that...a dragon?"

*Puff lifts her head and eyes Barry. Alanna drops a kiss on her snout.*

It is, yes. Kitty needed someone to keep her and gave her to me to look after.

*Alanna is clearly overjoyed by this.*

"Kitty...like in Kitty Pryde? Hm. That's a little surprising. Though, given what Hank has told me, that shouldn't be." He's more surprised, in fact, that a world as advanced as his, and not Alanna's world, produced this creature.

"Is she, er, tame enough that I don't need to worry about being set on fire?" Barry's experience with dragons is nil.

Aye. She rescued her, I believe. Puff and Kitty's dragon are... friendly. *Alanna smiles down at Puff. For her part, Puff just settles in Alanna's lap and gazes curiously at Barry.* She's very sweet. So far the only things she's burned are Adam's underwear.

"That's probably more than I needed to know," Barry says with a grin, not embarrassed so much as just bemused.

"Kitty has her own dragon...you know, that alone is probably enough of a reason for me to look for her. Haven't seen her in months.

"Did she explain why the dragon is called Puff?"

Aye, Lockheed. He's purple and has a penchant for rum. *Alanna smirks.* No, she didn't. She was exhausted at the time, and I haven't seen her since.

A dragon named Lockheed, with a penchant for rum. Barry has met a captain of Gondor and a philotic being today, and yet what he's hearing now seems a whole lot odder.

"The name comes from an old folk song, "Puff the MAgic Dragon." Let's see if I can remember how it goes...

"Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee,
Little Jackie Paper loved that rascal Puff,
And brought him strings and sealing wax and other fancy stuff."

Barry is just this side of on-key, but he doesn't mind.

"It's kind of a silly song, but the group that wrote it was very good."

*Alanna is mostly tone deaf anyway. She smiles, absently petting the dragon in question.*

It's great, and Puff is a grand name for a dragon. I'd not heard that song before. How have you been, Barry?

"The group is named Peter, Paul and Mary. I bet Adam could probably get you some of their stuff if you're interested. Or I could have Sara trackit down." Barry isn't a huge folkie, but he loves some of their work.

"I've been quite well. I love this time of year. Sara and I had a nice little Christmas

"And yourself? I hope the Bar didn't keep you and Adam from having a good time. Assuming you observed the day."

Oh, Goddess. We had a wonderful holiday. *Alanna smiles happily and glances at the door.* It's Midwinter Festival at home. I took him to Corus for a feast and a ball, and he met my King and friends as well as my adopted father. Christmas we returned to my Father's castle for the day and simply relaxed.

*Her smile just gets wider and wider.*

"I'm glad to hear that. Glad to hear that he was welcomed at home.

"I don't know him that well, but he seems like a good man. He makes you smile, and that's a wonderful thing." And of course, being a man who understands the value of love, this makes Barry smile.

"Was this your first Christmas?"

There is an exhausted looking Guppy next to her.

"Sorry to disturb you, I just wanted to thank you again for your help yesterday. Can I buy you a drink or anything?"
