It's been quite some time since John was last in the bar. He's become a father twice more since his last visit, and he hasn't been to the Archipelago once. (He's hesitant to admit he misses it, even to Jack and Charles.)

Being in Milliways is almost as good, though, and it is with a smile that he approaches the bar and asks if he might have a spot of tea.

The napkin that appears with it is greeted by a widening of his smile.

"Of course, old girl. I'd be delighted to."

A few minutes later, he's set up behind the bar.

John is beaming when he comes into the bar today.

He’s also carrying a box of cigars, and when he steps up to the bar, he’s greeted with a napkin that reads:

Congratulations!

After he gives his thanks for the message, he’s given another napkin to which he heartily replies. “Of course, I’d be delighted. Could I…get another box of cigars as well?”

Armed with both boxes, he steps behind the counter and flips through the drinks book before posting the specials.

Specials

Baby Eskimo
Baby Guinness
Johnny Cat

Free cigars all around!

Off near the back of the Bar, where it won't be (too) loud, there is a large TV - about 50". There's a DVD player hooked up to it, and a box of DVDs. The DVDs include such classics as the entire Wednesday the 15th series, that modern masterpiece Rake, and Wendy the Werewolf Stalker - not the cool TV show but the craptastic film with Swanny Crystal. Above the TV is a crudely drawn banner reading "HALLOWEEN HORROR HOEDOWN!!" (Both the artwork and the choice of words are Beast Boy's, if anyone asks.)

Cyborg has just finished getting the his spare batteries connected - he can't find any outlets with the right socket for some reason - and he looks around the Bar with a big grin. "So who y'all wants to see some scary movies?"

[ooc: Mun will have some slowtime, but open to all comers all weekend and threadhopping is encouraged - pick a film (real or imagined) and have some fun. Also a CAR KEYS post for JRR Tolkein.

Updated: Mun now enters weekend slowtime - will tag Saturday night after Shabbos and Sunday before and after wisdom tooth extraction.]

It hasn't been particularly long since John found himself in Milliways last. Only a month or so, but much has happened, and his head is still rather buzzing with it. Wendigo and Shadow-Born, and Jack losing his shadow, and seeing a boy-king claim his heritage, and Jack's fall and redemption.

And coming back to Staffordshire just in time for Edith to tell him that she's expecting (though that's a happiness he'll keep to himself for the time being).

He's a bit surprised to find himself here, really. He'd almost thought that Milliways must be connected to the Archipelago somehow and that he wouldn't find it again until he returned there, and he's pleased to discover that's not the case.

So when he steps up to the bar to order himself a drink and is given a napkin requesting a favor instead, he smiles and asks if there are any instructions, gets pointed in the direction of the Book, and cheerfully takes his place behind the bar, rummaging through said book for a moment before posting the evening's specials.

Specials:

Dragon's Blood

Dragon's Breath

The Army John

After a quick trip to the kitchen, he hastily adds:

Free slice of blueberry pie in exchange for a story about something (or someone) you love

He's rather happy to be home for a while.

A young man in a rumpled, ash-streaked suit (early twentieth century by the look of it) steps into the bar carrying a large atlas and a small pencil.

He seems unconcerned that he's just stepped into the bar at the end of the universe, but as he just came from having tea with a dragon who gave him a primer for translating an atlas of imaginary worlds, that could just be a matter of perspective.

He finds himself a seat at the bar, orders tea distractedly and sets about his work, mumbling to himself under his breath in several different languages as he flips through the pages of his atlas.

Occasionally, he makes notes in the margins, and the recurring phrase, "Here, there be dragons," can be heard every so often, always in a different language.

For the second time today (in John's timeline, at least) he walks through a door and finds himself somewhere he should not be.

And though he still hasn't reconciled himself to the concept of Milliways (when would he have had the time?), this is still hardly the strangest thing that's happened to him today. He's recently decided, however, to begin accepting the strange things as a matter of course, so he walks as calmly as possible to the bar and looks around for a barman.

It's quite possible no one bothered to explain how this works on his last visit.

[OOM: Pre-Milliways]

The young soldier who enters the bar this evening looks not at all up to being on the front lines. He is pale and thin and moves as though the mere effort of walking is taxing to him. When he looks around and finds himself in a drinking establishment instead of a train compartment, he falters and sits heavily on the nearest chair.

"Dear god," he murmurs. "What is this place?"

He half-believes his fever dreams have begun to follow him into his waking hours.
