Post breakfast shifts are decidedly more fun than the graveyard pre-breakfast shift. For a start, there's a little less tiredness, but as there's more people around, it's also a lot less boring.

Not that Mel tolarates boring for long. Take now, for instance. Your Security officer for the morning is in a section of open floor by the observaton window, attempting to build a house of cards. It's a training exercise, see? Steady hands, all that toy.

She's not as good as it as she'd like.

Likewise, what's not to like about an until-recently mute little samurai with ice-cream froth on her nose?

"Sounds like fun. Nothing so exiting. Aside from working in the brothel, I guess."

"Oh," Mel says, her face falling a little. "I traded all my gossip for that? I feel short changed."

Miho pouts at her.

"It's not my fault I'm boring! I've been training, I could tell you about that. Or my sex life. And there I run out of gossip. . ."

Mel shrugs, and grins sheepishly. "Actually, as Lilly's my roommate..." she knows some of that.

Miho snorts. Very ladylike, this one.

"Guess I have no gossip then."

The pout deepens.

"I really am boring."

Mel puts on her best sympathetic face.

"Com'n, there must be more interesting sex than sex with Lilly?"

Well, the pout is now highly amused, if nothing else.

"Well, yes. But don't tell her."

She blinks, and hastens to elaborate.

"Not better. But more interesting."

Mel sits up straight and makes gestures along the lines of 'on my honour, I won't say anything.' It's probably less funny if yoiu think for a second Mel has anything approaching honour at all.

"Though I'm finding it hard to believe sex with my roomie is boring."

"I. Um."

Miho hides in her soda. Not literally, of course. She wouldn't fit in the glass.

"I'm going to stop digging, this hole is quite deep enough, thank you."

Mel snickers, and nudges her with a foot under the table.

"So... who else and why's it so interesting?"

Miho covers her face with her hands. Although she does provide a name, perhaps without slayer-hearing, the very quiet muffled voice might be a little indistinct.

"Goldy."

It's a little muffled, yes, and Mel didn't quite hear it...

"Who?"

Miho sighs, and peels her hands away from her face. Mel is mean.

"Goldy. Goldilocks."

"Oh!" Mel says. "Yeah, I know her. Helped get Rachel back. Works for Lilly. She's interesting in bed, then?"

But not better than Lilly. Mel files this away for later reference.

What? She might become single again. You never know.

"That's her," Miho nods. "And, well. Someone can be amazing in bed, but without a connection, it'd be pointless, you know? I like Lilly, she's a sweetie, but Goldy is special."

She might. Yes. And we know that Miho thinks she's hot, right?

Special, huh? Mel grins widely. Yeah, she gets special.

"That's great," she says. "She's good people."

Not Mel's type, with the lying to her when they first met and everything, but Miho deserves to be happy.

Everyone thinks Mel's hot. There's quite the line forming.

"Yup," nodding agreement and taking another sip of ice-cream-cream soda.

Well, this would be because she is.

(OOC: also, when did Miho lie to Mel? She didn't say anything at all the first few times.)

"So how is the job?" Mel asks, cupping her cocoa for a sip. "You get much work?"

[OOC: Goldy, not Miho. My bad.]

"Uneventful, actually," she says. "Which is how we like it. Everyone's pretty well behaved."

(OOC: ah! no, mine too. far too early in the morning for subtelty. . . when you're me, anyway. And now I flee for work!)

"Good," Mel says with a wry smirk. "Not much gets me angry faster than a badly-behaved customer."

Miho laughs, shaking her head.

"Even if I have to deal with badly-behaved clients, as long as they don't get violent, I'll be happy."

Mel shrugs. "See? I like the violence. Kinda why this job is perfect for me. It's treating people badly I can't stand."

Miho frowns, thoughtfully.

"Normally I'd agree with you, but there's just too much hassle involved. Besides, Lilly'd kill me if I got blood all over her nice brothel!"

Mel shrugs, neither frowning nor being particularly cheerful about it.

"It washes off," she says. "Besides, people listen to it."

"It doesn't," she disagrees. "At least, it does off skin, but stains horribly. Why do you think I always wear black?"
